Adelaide and West Coast will be a good game. The eagles have been the crows the last couple of times at AAMI stadium. Should be a good game.

When the Crows lost to them last time, what round was it? because Cousins might not have been playing and Judd may not have been playing due to injury or playing with an injury.

WCE beat the crows at AAMI last year with nearly an identical midfield so should be a very interesting game.

Kerr will play.

LeCras with a bad groin will miss, Hunter in doubt but should play and Graham may get omitted.

Masten, Kennedy, McNamara all in contention. Ebert a dark horse to have a home debut, IMO will certainly travel as a emergency to see family.

Fletcher played.

Midfield had Cox, Kerr, Fletcher, Priddis, Selwood, Embley, Roas and Braun at some stage through the game. Exacty the same as the one they will be taking on this weekend.

Re: Round 2

Postby Pup » Wed Mar 26, 2008 10:48 pm

Some hard games to pick this week IMO, and considering my terrible effort in tipping last week i am probably the last person to be doing previews but ah well.

Brisbane Vs Collingwood

IMO this is a hard game to predict. Brisbane have the home ground advantage and were pretty solid against the Eagles last week. Bradshaw got a game of football into his body and Brown looked unstoppable against IMO the best fullback in the league and the midfield very well with the likes of Lappin, Power and Black all doing well. Collingwood were excellent against Freo, they played with intencity and the young players excelled. Rocca made up for his horror pre season with a dominant display and younster Nathan Brown held Pavlich. The problem i see for Collingwood is how can they stop Brown? Nathan Brown did a brilliant job on Pavlich but i cant see him beating Brown, if the Black, Power, Lappin and co can get the footy enough i can see Brown kicking 7+ and Brisbane winning by a small margin.

Melbourne Vs WB

Western Bulldogs got up in a thriller last week in Brad Johnsons 300th. The forward line fucnctioned reasonably well with Welsh, Johnson, Gia and Murphy all contributing, the much maligned Adam Cooney run rampant in the middle aided by the consistent duo of Cross and West. What can you say about Melbourne's performance last week? They were terrible, spineless and were soft. I cant see how they are going to improve enough to win.. They kicked 2 goals to 3 quarter time which is embarrassing. Brock Mclean is the only demon who could hold his head up. The dogs might be a bit flat after the emotion of Johnno's 300th but they wont be flat enough to let this game slip.

Adelaide Vs West Coast

This is one of the games of the round. As hard as it is to win in Adelaide the Eagles have been able to do it regularly in the last couple of years. The Eagles were reasonable against the Lions last week and still have a very good midfield regardless of what everyone else thinks, while Adelaide got pipped in a close one. When a team kicks 6 goals in the last quarter after being even at the final change then you expect to win more often than not. Porpy and Burton were outstanding. This is close to the identical midfield that took on Adelaide and beat them in rnd 13 last year in Adelaide. I am expecting a low scoring scrap with Glass and Rutten holding up the back half for both sides. The man who will worry WCE is Brett Burton who seems to play well every time the two teams meet and is in splendid form after round 1. Expect Embley and Fletcher to lift and Cox and Seaby to run rampant against an inexperienced and quite frankly ordinary Adelaide ruck division. WCE by 3 goals for me.

Fremantle Vs Hawthorn

Must win game for Freo as they do not want to be 0-2 coming into a Derby, but the only problem with that is they are coming up against a brilliant Hawthorn who demoralised a hapless Melbourne. Freo will lose the suspended Dean Solomon and surely they will make some changes (Matt Carr, McManus) and bring in some youth such as Palmer, Ibbotson and Warnock?. The scary thing about Hawthorn last week was they were missing most of their starting midfield (Crawford, Hodge and Lewis) and they still were dominant. I cant see anyone being able to stop Buddy in Freo's side and if they do then they have to start thinking about Roughhead, Williams and Boyle. Freo need to inject pace through the middle quickly and Pavlich and Tarrant have to lift (Particularly Tarrant). Cant see Hawthorn losing this even at Subiaco. Hawthorn by 5 goals.

St Kilda Vs Carlton

Carlton were terrible after half time against the Tigers and the St Kilda/Sydney game was enough to put the most avid supporter to sleep. St Kilda showed early signs though. Riewoldt was as good as ever, Charlie Gardiner presented and Kosi worked hard. They have a terrific midfield and a solid defence. This has to be St Kilda's year so they must win games like this. Carlton have a potentially brilliant midfield but a poor defence and a one man forward line. The match up to watch will be Waite Vs Riewoldt, Waite beat him last time and could have a big bearing on the match if he can do so again. I still think the Saints have to much class for Carlton at the moment. St Kilda by 6 goals.

Sydney Vs Port Adelaide

Should be another decent game. Last week Sydney were involved in another one of those Sydney type games (Scrappy, Dull and somehow intriguing normally) Goodes had a shocker, Hall was indifferent again and Davis was the same old Davis. Port got blown out of the water in the first half but came back very well and could have snatched it had they taken their chances. The Cornes boys were consistent as always, Salopek was terrific as was Travis Boak. Motlop was terrible in a big game again, Ebert and Surjan were quiet and Logan looked to struggle with the pace. I think Sydney might be able to shut down and stifle the likes of Cornes, Burgoynes and Salopek, unless Tredrea can pull one out of the bag i expect Sydney to win with Hall and Goodes regaining form.

Essendon Vs Geelong

Geelong fell over the line against Port last week and Essendon were far to good for the Kangaroos. Geelong are as good as always IMO and will take some beating this year, Corey, Ablett, Enright, Bartel, Ling and co is one hell of a midfield and one that should run essendon's into the ground regardless of how quick and skillful they looked. I was very impressed with the likes of Jetta, McVeigh (who was brilliant) Houli, Lonergan and co but i dont think they can beat Geelong especially without Lucas who is a huge loss. Geelong by 5 goals IMO.

Richmond Vs North Melbourne

North were ordinary last week and will be keen to return to were they think they should be and thats in the best 5 or 6 sides in the comp. Thompson got a game under his belt which is a plus, McIntosh had a downer and will be much better this week, Simpsons skills were atrocious and hopefully Harvey, Swallow and co can get enough ball to service Edwards and Thompson. Whatever is wrong with Daniel Wells he needs to snap out of it quickly, he has a reputation based purely on potential and he really needs to step up and show some people how good he can be. Richmond were over the moon with their win and so they should be, Richo and Brown really did the damage last week for Richmond and no matter how much flak he gets he is a true champion of Richmond and one hell of a footballer. I am expecting North to be too good for Richmond but to be honest who knows with these sides. Roos by plenty.

all good mate like i said i could be wrong :D and was i like fletcher and have him in my fantasy team as i think he will be a big player for wc this year with cuz and juddy gone he will step up...
good preview of the round there to mate think you are on the money with most games although i think the roos v tiges game could be close and can also see the bombers taking it right up to the cats who seemed just a tad underdone last week and the bombers are as good as there gonna get but could be interesting to see how they cope without lucas time to step up gumbelton !!!!!!

Brisbane to roll the Pies at the Gabba.
Doggies just. Melbourne will be better.
West Coast. Cows no answer to Cox and Seaby.
Freo. The Hawthorn tugg fest will have to put on hold for a week.
St Kilda. Have had the Blues measure for years now.
Port. Two extra days to recover equals four points for mine.
Geelong just. Essendon quick but Three extra days to recover equals four points for mine.
North by a couple of goals. Expect a big lift from McIntosh.

regards,

Brisbane to win comfortably.
Bulldogs to smash the Demons. Hard to turn around that sort of form in one week.
West Coast to win a tight one against Adelaide.
Hawks to go 2-0 against Freo.
St Kilda to smash Carlton. Eddie Betts fined for tunnelling Riewoldt.
Port too quick for the Swans.
Essendon to upset the Cats. Playing great footy at the minute.
Kangas and Richmond....who cares.

interesting round.....some things to consider

Brisbane on a 6 day break coming back from Perth, Collingwood also on a 6 dayer and used to it due to all the FNF they play
Melbourne and Bullies on a 6 day back up, Bullies coming off the DOOM
Adelaide again on a 6 dayer and off the DOOM (any injuries this week?) WCE off 7 days
Essendon and Roos come off 6 dayers against teams with 10 days break :?

Weird programming, would have though Sydney/Port would have been on Saturday and give maybe the Bullies and Melbourne a 7 day break....
