Postby bayman » Wed Oct 17, 2007 10:00 pm

well with the present dat scandals in perth would you let your son(s) go to perth if drafted by west coast ?

i wouldn't let little bayman go if he was at the right age & good enough, i'd actually prefer him to play at port rather than face/see the culture over there at the moment & for you guys that know me, you know how much i hate them
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway

I hate to tell you bayman but West Coast aren't the only club with drug problems. Maybe the question should be would you let your child play AFL at the moment? I have seen with my own two eyes a player selling drugs and he didn't play for West Coast. This was 6 years ago and I was totally shocked. I just didn't think this happened.

cennals05 you are OTM

I just posted something similar on the AFL board

Assuming this is only a WCE problem is totally naive

I agree there is a massive drug problem within the AFL and its closer to home than most people might think. I have heard several stories of AFL players involved with this type of behaviour and these players were quite high profile

The WCE obsession continues does it Bayman

If you honestly think that WCE are the only ones with problems and your son would be fine at any other club, then you are either incredibly naive or incredibly stupid.

In fact if i had kids i would rather send them to a club like WCE, the club has a brilliant record of developing quality footballers and elevating rookies and them being a success. brilliant support and sponsors and excellent financial position.

If i went through every side in the AFL then i could find problems within the club past or present. Dont let your obvious hatred for the club cloud your vision, which you have been doing continually in the last 2 days.

If you nominate for the "draft" you MUSt go to the club that drafted you..no second thoughts.
That is why the "shaft" is wrong......

if you don't like the draft, don't play footy...

visit the 'hot off the press" discussion in the AFL forum...

i think the point about this thread is that west coast are the ones in the spot light right now. Regardless of the drug culture in the AFL. Everything points their way....

More likely, would you let your kids go out of the house- drugs are not confined to just football circles...

With all the public scrutiny, I would think West Coast is probably the safest environment for a kid now to stay away from drugs

well firstly i agree that at most if not all clubs that players have, will & tried it at some stage there is no 'obsession' (as stated) by me to west coast but we know they have said 8 players including high profile players have had or have got a problem, so i think its fair to assume that west coast has the biggest problem at this point in time & thats why i asked would you let your son(s) go there in their present climate & my answer remains the same no....if the problem arose elsewhere (& knowing about it) the answer is the same

Drugs are everywhere, streets, schools, groups and AFL.

The AFL has a major drug problem with players from all clubs, but the eagles are the only ones getting all the attention as they have cousins playing for them.

Prehaps there should be some more on the edit players which have been caught with drugs, or even something on Simon Goodwin's gambling addiction. Anything to get the attention of the eagles.

What a tender thought..Lets all spread the misery and bring a few more down and up for public ridicule that will help the situation. The infatuation with we all need to know sickens me .I dont want to know if someone has been caught .I just want the problem addressed as best as it can be.
