gotta go with the strength

unlucky to be dropped after playing the year in the seniors, but he just hasnt stepped upto the plate in the finals.

There wasnt much doubt that King would get the call up.

I think its the smart move, definately hard to make thought, hopefully young Blakey will bounce back OK though and not do a Derek Kickett.

In this week's Inside Football, there is an article that discussus the case for and against the retention of Blake in the side. After reading it I thought that the case was stronger for King.

The main three points against Blake's inclusion were..

1. The last time we played Port, Lade brushed Blake off the ball continously. Blake's effort against the Power against Skilled cost him badly IMO.

2. Blake struggled against Richards and Bryan. How is he going to go with Lade and Brogan.

3. During the match against Collingwood, every time Blake went into the ruck the Cats lost momentum.

One of the points FOR Blake is his superior mobility but I believe that the Brogan of 2007 is not the Brogan of 2004. In 2004 Brogan was John Barnes like in the way he covered the ground. The big Power man has had a few injuries in the last few years and IMO doesn't quite cover the ground as freely as he once did.

King and Ottens is the way to go but you have to feel for the unlucky Blake who is a much loved figure down at Catland.

I read somewhere in the paper where a stats company had put together details of goals kicked and goals kicked against Geelong while Blake had been on the ball and it didn't look good. I think he'd come out even over the course of the year despite us winning 15 games in a row and most of those comfortably. I think we outscored collingwood by 5 or 6 goals while Otto was on the ball so its not hard to do the maths as to how we did when Blake was on the ball.
Blake is a fantastic young ruckmen in developing and will take more steps as he gets older but the time is right to bring Kingy in.

I think it is the right decision but feel for him, he is very stiff.

He has played 22 games to King's 5. Right but Harsh.

Could King play in 2 premierships in 7 days? Fair week

This was expected really.

In GF's you pick your best 22, plain and simple. King fit would have to be in Geelong's best 22 surely. Hard Luck on the young man. I'm curious as to why King didn't play last week if he was fit enough to play in the Resies GF. Maybe REB could shed some light on this situation.

King has been selected because of his additional body strength and experience. Blake was selected due to the (relative) weakness of the Pies' ruck division. The fact that the did not dominate sealed his fate. It aint rocket surgery folks.

Very true, If it wasnt for Ottens' good work last week things would have been bad. When Ottens was on the cats looked good and in control, but when Blake was on the pies came storming back. So the King decision is a straight forward one in the end.

i would think this is a move that will play into ports hands thurstans will take ottens when he goes forward lade and brogs would towel king and blake as a ruck combo ..then geelong move ottens to ruck and end up with 1 forward short king and blake are not forwards a holes ..for mine massive advantage to the power even more so if its wet and slippery

Bring back the biff! There's nothing wrong with a bit of niggle in the GF, especially early on. I'd say that's one area the Cats would definitely have the upper hand in that department though.

Yes but the AFL told players any fighting suspensions would be heavy :( But with the Big Hairy Cat behaving himself I feel that trying to unsettling him will not work.
