for the tribunal. Getting that thug Lance Franklin out for a week.

He'd be better off hammering a bloke after he has gone for a mark aka David Hille.

Karma got Aker his hammy too- a fair acting job.

Absolutely incensed by this decision!

I'm in no way a hawks fan or a Buddy fan but just a frustrated AFL fan. The AFL is an absolute joke, as is the tribunal.
For years they have been mucking around with the rules and its slowly killing the game. I can see by the end of this year people being absolutely dismayed with the games that are produced. It's already started with all the discussion of poor goal kicking and poor skills and the voices will only get louder.

How Franklin was rubbed out out is beyond me, he attempted to make a play on the ball carrier, once the ball carrier had got rid of the ball he attempted to pull up and laid a "token" effort bump ( more to get in aka's way so he could not receive the ball again ) and due to Ladson running into aka from behind and causing aka to move down and forward, slight contact was made to the head.

The tribunal views slow-mo replays, etc and have no idea of the split second decisions which players have to make.

Kozi smashes a guy in the head after running past the ball = 3 weeks
Franklin brushes aka after trying to avoid contact = 1 week

JOKE!

Mooney went for fugg all the week before as well. Never mind that Hille tried to take Jimmy's head off in round one.

He actually tries to minimise impact as if you watch the slo mo he has started to throw the top part of his body back away from Aker who kept coming with the momentum from behind him..

The only thing Franklin should possibly have been found guilty of, is that he is a foot taller than Aker and Akers melon is at the same level as Franklins chest/shoulder...

"Guilty as charged your honor, I will have my legs shortened for the next round I am available"

Absolute disgrace...

The only thing missing in the AFL at present are the GS, GK, WA, WD, bibs.......

Yep.....

Buddy should just give the game away ... He is going to get rubbed out 5-6 times a season if these types of rulings keep getting laid on him.

Maybe after his 4th suspension for the season for being too tall, he'll stand up at the tribunal & just tell them all to go f*ck themselves & walk out on the game.

terrible terrible decision by the match review panel

If they didn't set the precedent the previous week by suspending Mooney, Franklin would be playing this week. Unfortunately, the tribunal ruling on Mooney will now have repercussions for the rest of the season and we will see plenty more missing out on games for the same charge.

you make some sense there mate, looking at the dangerfield tackle, he had 3 guys take him to the ground and held his arm back and smash his head into the turf which had him off to hospital for scans. Im pretty sure thats the thing we should be looking at.
The Franklin "Bump" and I use the term Bump very very loosely because there was not a great deal in it, will be a very sad day for football, like come on, my girlfriend has hit me harder than that.
Although I assume buddy got the one week for not attempting to jump over aker???

Franklin decision was a disgrace (only saw the Mooney one the week before briefly, but thought he'd get off too).

The Dangerfield tackle had no malice or intent to harm, was just one of those unavoidable things that happens on a footy field imho.

As I said, they set a terrible precedent by suspending Mooney. Once they suspend one person for a ridiculous charge, they are almost bound to do it for the rest of the year. I'm referring to a suspension precedent.

I agree. To a certain degree it was self-inflicted.If he just rode it chest/face 1st into the turf he would have been ok.Its reflex not to want to go face 1st.He dropped his head in at the last second which caused him to "roll" over his own chin and his body then followed.
