Until the words "I'm sorry for my actions (or lack thereof) regarding Alisha and want to sincerely and humbly apologise to her family and friends", then he is.

I am always sceptical, and sick of, sanctimonious, religious fruitcakes lecturing the rest of humanity.

But isn't there legal ramifications if he was to admit guilt and apologise? Could he potentially end up in the slammer?

OK, my point was not to add any credibility to Gary Ablett, moreso to say that I agree to a degree with the words he's said, and that if they came from the mouth of anyone else we have a much healthier respect for, Im sure many would feel the same.

I know you're a man of faith, but I didn't think you were into that whole American Envangelist scene.

what is the ''American Evangelist scene?''

Evangelistic means to proclaim the gospel to people outside of the church, to live the life that we say we live.

the biggest problem the church has are the hypocrites who say one thing and do another. the only time anyone's evangelism is effective is if they have credibility behind the words, action to back it up.

Gary has a past, no doubt about it, did he come to know God before or after the incident involving the girl and her overdose? before or after his own drug addiction?

if this was after he found faith in God then his credibility is shot and i understand the criticism, however, if all this happened and THEN he found God then i have no doubt that he is a changed man.

i have a past, not as extravagant as Mr Ablett's, but there are people that i affected before giving my life to Jesus that wouldn't want to hear about it because of the offences i caused in their lives, on the other hand there are people who knew me before and can see the changes in my life and the new direction in my life and can attribute that to my relationship with Christ...

am i being evangelistic again?!? ;)

The extreme fundamentalists. Ya know, the groups that take out full page newspaper 'adverts' using an iconic puppet to try and steer us from the evils of self-determination ;)

..and it didn't help her much....
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

he found God in '89? (or thereabouts).

With regards to the Alicia Horan death, if people decide that they wish to shoot up herion/drop an E/snort cocaine together, does that make the other person liable should one of them die (excluding hotshots)?

He has always been a loose cannon. Back in 1982 when he started at Hawthorn, I had a business associate who was a cousin of the Abletts. He would tell me all about Gary, how he was a brilliant player, but would be surprised if he didn't end up in prison.

He was a juvenile delinquent who was well known to the police, and that is why he didn't last at Hawthorn ... Allan Jeans was a police sergeant and Gary couldn't hack his discipline.

As you say, Ablett would number amongst the best 3 or 4 players I've ever seen, but I don't think he has ever been a part of the real world.

He was obviously a little "different" thats for sure. I heard a story once he ate a roast about an hour before a game started, and then went out and kicked a bag of goals.
