Tom Lee would be unlucky but he hasnt come on as well as our other draftees from last year. Maybe the crows could put him on the rookie list if no other clubs draft him.

They obviously have their reasons but why didn't they participate in trade week and try and get some compensation, I'd say they would've picked up something decent for Shirley.

especiually since Judd and Ablett rated him so highly... will he nominate for the draft and, if so, who will get him? who needs a good tagger?

Kilburn...
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

I guess that at 29-30 years old you need to be at a higher level than Shirley to be able to attract a trade deal - you need to be more like Aker or Fevola.

If the other clubs guess he is likely to be delisted anyway they'd probably prefer to get him for nothing in the PSD, making it hard to work an actual trade.

He may choose to nominate for the drafts I suppose.

I'm sure that not many would be surprised by Shirley's axing and I would be very surprised if he were to be picked up by any other
AFL club.

No doubt he played the part of a stopper very well but the modern day tagger needs to also accumulate possesions, damaging possesions
so the likes of Kirk,O'Bree,K.Cornes are all raising the bar a little higher in regards to what a "tagger" is expected to do. Shirley, IMO, is
a victim of this as Doughty and van Berlo ( who Adelaide will now use as "taggers" ) also get the ball and use it well.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.
