Postby JK » Fri Sep 01, 2006 10:43 am

Lads and Ladettes,

I'm currently leading a tipping competition with over 150 competitors (and worth some tidy $$ and pub prestige) heading into the final round, and am having MASSIVE trouble choosing between Adelade v Melbourne and Hawthorn v Geelong ... I have 2 hours before I have to submit, any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Cheers,
CP the nervous

Dear CP the nervous,

When in doubt,go with the bookies, they make shiteloads of money every week, and it's not too often they are wrong.

ADELAIDE 2.15
MELBOURNE 1.71

HAWTHORN 2.15
GEELONG 1.70

Centrebet as at 10:00 am this morning.

For mine, they are right with both, however,Melbourne have a crap record at Footy Park. They are also the hardest tackling team in the AFL,coming up against a side who has battled under pressure the last 6 weeks.Neitz is a big in,Roo missing again will hurt.Melbourne 13-24.

Hawthorn on the other hand have a crap game plan and only one bloke performing up forward,Buddy Franklin who will get blanketed by Scarlett.Geelong 24-36.

BTW,Im one in front looking at $400!

Booney the (hopefully) wise,

My first step this morning was to ask the wise old man who offered the prophetic words "tip with your head, not with your heart" ... Yeah, thanks dad!!

So I checked on Centrebet and noticed the same as yourself.

Finally rang the best mate who said "You've gotta go with all the favourites"

However, playing the safe option opposes my natural instincts and subsequently I fear becoming the Kevin Costner Tin Cup of the tipping world ... My avoid the comps next year altogether!

Thanks for your help lads,
CP

CP,

Firstly,Hendon from 4-5 ish this afternoon.

Secondly, the people behind you must take risks, the best option is to go the favourites and let them pick the roughies,if they can....but,as with you, let's hope they cant... [-o<

Melbourne will beat Adelaide - Adelaide do not have the players on the deck to turn their form around this week
Geelong will beat Hawthorn - Just ask any Geelong supporter they are unbeatable when they cant make the 8 anymore!

I went with the bookie option as well in recent weeks and got 4 and 5 in the last two rounds. To win a footy tipping comp you must DEFY the Bookies and pick one out of your ar5e. Melbourne's record interstate is carp and the Cats wil be as flat as dogshit after that draw last weekend.

regards,

Hawthorn no longer exist, now called the Tassie Hawks (dead set).

GO THE MAPS

There players will all be p*ssed off, so they will lose.

IF essendon win they cost themselves a priority pick, so they will lose.

Crows are seriously on the nose. I would go the faves and go the demons. (maybe)

last round of footy is always a lottery

but i put $5.00 on Adel to beat melb by 39.5 pts or more, tigers to beat eagles, essendon to beat the bullies and kangas to beat collingwood.....

yes, some long shots but $5.00 risk is worth $924.00 return

LMAO ... Think I blew it at the pub* ... Only managed the 6, and with their rule of earning a bonus point for an 8/8 I'd imagine I've just kissed goodbye $2.5k :(

Thankfully I went with my heart and pulled the 8/8 in a work comp to win the thing on the last game of the season and collect a tidy $570 as a consolation.

Sorry didn't get in to the pub on Friday mate, will try again in the next few weeks!

Cheers,
CP
