I disagree with both calls, it wasn't that long ago when Man United were almost everyone's second side because of the plane crash in the 60s or whenever it was, its only the last decade or so that has seen so many bandwagonners support them and thus get many people to hate them.
Liverpool were always the Port/Colllingwood of the EPL.
