Port: Akermanis

Speculation has been rife that Port Adelaide are very interested in signing Jason Akermanis - and this has been fuelled by comments from Mark Williams to the media regarding him.

I think Akermanis is a quality player - but not the kind of player that Port are looking for. I would rather see Port Adelaide chasing Michael Gardiner - if they can get his head right then he could be gold for Port. He would enable Lade to move up to full forward and create another scoring option for Port Adelaide - which without Tredrea is basically stuffed. I think we have enough young midfielders, Aker would be great in the short term, but he has only got 3 years left in him.

Port are in no position to chase Aker or Gardiner. I would of thought the only teams interested in these two would be teams who are one or two quality players away from a flag, not re-building like Port.

Port Dont really need Gardiner. There ruck stocks are pretty good. With Deluca coming through as well they seem alright in that area.
