Probably Kirk, Harley, SImpson as top 3...Johnson good also but not with the first 3, also think that a forward line player being Captain doesnt work effectively as a defender or midfielder

please people if we are talking best captains in the land i think it goes without saying that Jonathan Brown and Matt Pav are the best two captains in the land. Jonathan Brown the amount of times he puts his body on the line, the amount of times he wins matches of his own boot. Pav is just a superstar who has kept the entire fremantle industry alive in recent years. he has dominated games, led from the front, he has played how many games in a row until he missed round 21 this year. He is ultra competitive and takes it on himeself, when there struggling he goes into the middle n does it all himself. Simpson would not be in top 5

Now your talking about their football abilities which we all know are great, thats doesnt not automatically translate to being a great Leader of a football club of which their role on field probably on plays about 20% of their responsibilities

Collingwood captains get a six month course on what to do when the 5hit hits the fan because their players are feral bogans. Money well spent.

Well, no..unless he learnt to ice those important goals. Until then he doesn't belong in the leading captain stakes. His club lost more close games than any other team in history last year and I reckon Pav had the chance to win at least three of those and didn't convert in any of em so that's why I'm laughing at your suggestion that he's up there with Browny, Kirk or Harley.

I don't know who you barrack for in the AFL CK, it's just that Crows are nearly all you see on your media so maybe you missed some of Pav's classic chokes because there was a Cows game on.

Nah i think it's good Johnson and Simpson have both stepped down. I think Chris Newmann or Nathan Foley will get the job at TigerLand and for the Roo's well i think brent harvey deserves it because of his leadership qualities and loyalty the the blue and white, but would be good to see a younger fella get it, is it time daniel wells takes more responsibility and becomes an elite player of the competition??
all in all, two good captains, but neither worthy of being in the top 3 IMO.
