ever heard the coach tell you before the game "it's an oval with a set of goals each end- just kick the footy between them more times than your opponenent & you'll win".the joker wrote:hondo71 wrote:Booney wrote:Huh? Regardless of who you play,if you dont have to get on a plane to do it that is an advantage. The fact they only have 'home state advantage' 5 times is far out weighed by onyl having to travel further than the next tram can take you 4 times.
If stating a fact is whinging I might need to change my signature.
Have to agree. The issue is the almost 3 hour transit to and from (incl time to airport, waiting for plane, plane trip, travel to hotel) plus, in some cases, doing it all again to go home the same night. And that's just for the Adelaide teams.
I'd trade a "home state advantage" for an interstate trip every time. Let's see ... choose from:
1 Travel interestate 10 times; OR
2 Play fellow-state teams 13 times (ie, lose "home state advantage" for 13 of the 18 games you play in your home state)![]()
Having said that, all teams have interstate travel down to a fine art these days so it's less of an issue that it used to be.
i agree aswell
also with Collingwood Homeground advantage is basically just cause you have the most supporters at a ground and you are used to playing a ground, and collingwood are very used to the MCG and as for the crowds, they would Propably have more supporters at every Victorian game even there away victorian games
A lot of whingeing going on, hidden amongst the "breaking it down" theories.
In business, you push/promote what sells to maximise your profit, & the AFL is big business- hence why Melbourne v Nth Melbourne is not played on ANZAC Day...
