Sydney Swans If they can secure a home final, could be a top 4 side

St Kilda See Collingwood

Richmond Will strugle to hold their spot in the 8


Fremantle 4 more home games might not be enough for them to make the 8

Ian, FWIW I won't regard losing the GF a failure as on the day anything can happen, just ask North Melbourne in 1998. However to not make the GF from here would be as pathetic as Port Adelaide in 2002-2003.

I do like our ins to come back, Perrie, Welsh, Van Berlo and Hart, with (IMO) Stevens, Skipworth, Massie & Doughty to miss out.

Clarke maybe for Maric, can't find a spot Bock as I believe he will make us too top heavy but may come in if we play St Kida given their height.

That is what makes us such a good chance to play off on the last Saturday in September the players who potentially miss out all have good claims to be there........

Can only see grand finalists coming from the top 4 and Sydney if they can snatch a home final in the first week. I think St Kilda will be the best chance for a Victorian side by the end of the year, but Adelaide are a class above everyone at the moment.

Wrinkles, you're on drugs. Losing the Grand Final would be the very definition of failure as far as Adelaide is concerned. You talk about Port being 'pathetic', yet to Port Adelaide nothing less than a flag is acceptable, which was duly delivered. Now before you give me the old 2-1 line, remember that Port were 'up' for four consecutive seasons, something that the Crows have yet to achieve.

Sorry mate but you sound like the quintessential Glenelg supporter..it's OK as long as we make the Granny. I that somehow your doctrine sinks into those that count at Crowland because the only way these blokes are going to miss this years flag is that somehow they succumb to the enemy within. Once you get that 'near enough is good enough' culture into your club you are screwed..ask any Cat, Docker or Saint fan.

I don't disagree with your post per se REB, except I made my statement based on this year. Right now we are up and one of the dominant teams in the comp to not win a flag before the current AFL structure of team success (i.e will start our slide down the ladder) takes over will be a failure.

What I am suggesting is that like North in 1998, Essendon in 1999, and Port in 2002-03 to not win a flag this year will not be failure provided we convert within the next two years.

Don't get me wrong as a Crows member I will be disappointed if we lose on the last Saturday in September and will make next year all the more important to convert.

In a nutshell to not win a flag this year will be very disappointing based on how we have played so far. To not win a flag a la Glenelg 1988-92 and Geelong 1989-95 can righly be considered a failure.

Fremantle can not comprehend true failure as they have never experience any success

That's my point Punkybrooster. They think a seven goal loss in the first week of finals is near enough. They even clapped them off the field that night. They should have been spewing..a seven goal loss on their home deck!

Anything less than a flag will be a major failure for the Crows this year,by far and away the most dominant team the AFL has seen since Essendon in 99.Even Brisbane and Port over the last 5 years have not shown the total dominance the Crows have this year.As I am totally aware,finishing top and not going on with it (Port 02-03,Crows 05) is a major dissapointment,but as long as you stay there and keep giving yourself a chance that is all the fans can ask for,sure they can dream of the ultimate prize but giving yourselves a chance is the first step.

Losing the last game of the year is shattering no doubt,no even having a chance of getting there is worse still.
