I buy one every year. I've got every edition since 1998.

I've got them all since 1963 and every finals match since 1966.
Ditto with SANFL finals budgets.
Had them valued a couple of years ago and I'm sitting on nice piece
of moolah.

With a collection like that make sure your contents insurance covers it as I have a bit of memorabilia and when I asked my insurer about it they class anything like that as a “collection” and often only pay out $1000 - $2000 for the lot. So if you think it might be worth more than $2000 might be worth a phone call just to check your cover.

Thanks for that TB
My stash has been valued @ $8K so I might look into that.
I neglected to mention that I have lots of WA Finals Budgets from the same period but it is not the complete set like my VFL/AFL & SANFL stuff.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

That's interesting because I have every VFL/AFL GF record since 1956, and every SAFL GF budget since 1963. I guess a lot of value has to do with the condition of the records.

Also, the collection you have consists of two very "hard to get" editions ... the 1961 and 1966 records which are worth quite a bit on their own.

AH, you'll find that 1st premierships ('54,'61,'66 &'75) are worth a lot more than usual records.
Historic GFs such as 1970 and 1977 also pull a few bob.
I've been told that the criteria for valuable copies is such:
No writing ,ie.writing in scores goalkickers etc, all pages intact, no tears and no dog ears
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

That's correct, although I've never quite understood the "no writing" bit. Obviously you don't want scores scribbled in like a 4 year old, but if scores and goalkickers were entered neatly and correctly, I can't see why that would make a difference. Still, that's just me. I'd rather view a page with all the details neatly entered than a blank page.

I never started collecting these things for the money, I just wanted them as sources of reference.

I also have the Football Record for South Australia's famous victory in Melbourne 1963, something I'm rather proud of :)

Agreed.
My copy of the 1972 or 1973 GF has the Carlton players growing horns, being cross-eyed, missing front teeth etc.. you know the routine.
I knew it was a Richmond fan that did it before I realised what team it was because he/she had scribbled over the lines and didn't use any grammar to insult the Blues players.
Like you , I never started collecting them for profit, but now I'm kicking myself for not doing so.
Your 1963 State game would fall into that special match category.
