THE AFL's Gold Coast franchise has signed its first players, recruiting three teenage Queenslanders.

Charlie Dixon from Cairns and Gold Coast pair Jesse Haberfield and Jack Stanlake, all aged 17, are the first players to formally commit for the team which will make its debut in the TAC Cup Under-18 competition next year.

And in breaking news, all other teams will have to play 6 players with no legs, 6 players with no arms and 6 players with no eyes. Gold Coast have also had their name engraved on 5 premiership cups of their choosing from their first 10 seasons.

I think its great they don't have a nickname and haven't unloaded on us with something ridiculous like "Power".
When most clubs are born they dont' have nicknames and they evolve naturally (North Adelaide, Norwood, Geelong, Melbourne, etc), its good to see a club set themselves up in the traditional manner.
1 tick of approval from me, well done Gold Coast!

If they don't get a good midfield we could call them the Gold Coast Lifesavers nothing in the middle ha ha.

I still think they f***ed up though, I mean, they missed a couple of colours!
