Shocking injury, was nearly made a quadraplegic, could well be the end of his AFL career.
What I want to know, is why a free kick was not paid? The bump was to a player who had his head over the ball- what happened to protecting the player in this instance?
The incident was not reportable, but warranted a free kick imho.
All the best for a speedy recovery Blake.

Under the new tribunal, the other player could find himself up on a charge of headhigh contact, reckless, non-incidental.

Have to protect the player in that case. That was reckless and has caused a very serous injury.

I have to admit I have only seen the incident once but from what I saw didn't the brisbane player hit the footy with both hands almost as the contact was made, I have tried to see it again but have missed everytime it has been on the news. My first thought was that a free kick may even have been not paid??

Certainly warranted a free kick in this day age, but definitely not reportable ... Just one of those accidental collisions imho ... Hope Caracella recovers as well as the medico's believe he might

Caracella slipped which caused the collison to be head high rather than in the chest or shoulder region IMO...sickening clash though

A-C-C-I-D-E-N-T-!-!-!
It really gives me the sh&*% when some wimp in the media comes out
and says the AFL should crack down on head high tackles.
WHAT head high tackles?!?!?!??!!
PC driven sissy BS crap.
The Caracella incident was an accident, it WASN'T a king hit.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Spot on Punky contact to the head, should have been a free kick, as it was accidental - no malice intended - not a report....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
