According to 5AA news this morning, Neil Craig is on the cusp of signing an extension with the Crows to 2011. :?

You guys talk like we have Robert Shaw winning 7 games per season

Hopefully, this year we will make our 4th finals series in a row

NC inherited Ayres' squad and squeezed 2 prelim finals out of them (should have been at least 1 GF I accept) so surely he deserves a crack at building his own team?

The general consensus is our squad has over-achieved under NC I personally don't see what the issue here is - but each to their own
In between signatures .....

Im with you Hondo.... All coaches have floors in there methods but i thkn NC has done very well with what he has been given and developed.

I think its all a beat up because we have last 5 in a row to good sides and then Port Supporters start planting seeds with mindless banter.....

Far from panic stations at the AFC.....

I agree, well said Hondo ... Can't think of too many stars that were developed or introduced in Ayres' time at the helm ... Whilst the same can possibly be said of NC's tenure, he's done markedly better with systems and structures with the same average list.

Time will tell what he's like on player development, but I think he's earnt the opportunity to continue on for a few more years.

I'm just concerned that he will never be able to take the next step and I really fear that his conservative and stubborn nature won't allow the club to be as good as they can be. He needs to show more faith in the youngsters as we currently have a lot of talented youngsters and they are the future.

No drama's with those concerns NFC, I think those happy with him getting an extension would still say the jury is out in area's like that ... I think culturally he's good for the club and IF (there's that big word) he's able to develop kids (and I mean some quality draft picks), he could be a great coach.

Using the Geelong model, their once-were kids of Ablett, Corey, Ling, Enright, Kelly, Scarlett etc have all been in the system a long time and people often forget how long it takes for the younger ones, regardless of the talent shown, to develop mature bodies, fitness base and minds ... There's a few on the Adelaide list that could surprise in the next 3 years imho.
