Well why can't it be a gradual move so a designated Melbourne club will play half of it's home games in Melbourne and the other half in Tassie/Canberra? That would allow a supporter base in both places and reduce the market saturation in Melbourne.

so what were sayin is there maybe 4 teams too many ... ie afl is needin to prop them up where ever they go ( location wise)

so if we went to a 12 team comp .. afl players could earn more ..bring them into comparison of other top league comps( soccer, nba, nfl, cricket etc )

i understand the afl signed a deal with 7/10 fot tv tights but if u have read the contract it doesnt mention 8 games live per week ..... therefore it doesnt require a 16 team comp

The easiest way is have two melbourne clubs move and whilst we are at it there is only 8 Melbourne clubs left
Melbourne
Collingwood
Carlton
Richmond
Essendon
Western Bulldogs
Hawthorn
St Kilda
I am going to only say this once Geelong is not Melbourne look at a map Melbourne Finish at Werribee not Geelong. I am from Geelong and I can say this.

Strawb, I have always counted Geelong as a Vic regional team. My nine includes the Kangaroos who are located in Melbourne as far as I am aware.

And Phil the Western Bulldogs aready play 1 game a year in Darwin (are negotiating the raise that to 2) and sell home games to interstate teams so I don't agree with your point that a club has to have 1 base.
