Calling all Carlton Fans

Do you reckon Carlton supporters will be happy knowing that they are 6 and 6?

Or disappointed that they have won more than 5 games, a goal they have been avoiding for the past 3 years?

Right maxyoz I'll bite (lucky you're a good Glenelg man !!)...

1.I am satisfied we are 6/6 although think we should maybe, be 8/4, but we started the season off with 3 losses so not a good start, and three of those losses were to sides currently sitting below us (Richmond, Essendon & St Kilda). Never happy that we've dropped six games, but after the bleak times we've had am glad we finally have some wins.

2.As for the winning more then 5 games finally...I blame Pagan

3.For the first time in eons, Carlton have finally found the ability to hold teams to fewer than 100 points. When we've done so we've won.

4.Our backline is developing nicely, Jamo looks a find, T-Bird is doing OK, Waitey is having a good season and Setanta has done the job the past few weeks. Bower looked good before getting injured, and young Army looks promising. We still have Walks & Houla to come back in. Those blokes are young and have taken a few games to gel, so hopefully over the next couple of seasons they develop into a good unit. Also have pressure from the reserves in Joey Anderson and Mark Austin pushing for a spot.

5.Our midfield, is pretty good. Happy with Gibbsy, Murp, Simo & Juddy. Need a ruckman, as young Hammer & Kreuz need a bit of assistance. Saying that though Kreuzer has shown he will be a beauty, and Hammer will be OK. Sauce aka Jacobs (former WWT) has been impressing in the ressies and should be elevated off the Rookie list next year (if not this one). Ackland is gawn. Cloke is a warhorse who's endeavour and passion cannot be questioned. Probably a bit small for ruck, but OK pinch hitting. Despite getting smashed in the rucks, Juddy is leading the contested clearance by a mile in the AFL, so his presence cannot be understated. Stevo didn't have a pre-season nor did Judd, so both of those blokes will be better next season.

6. Our forward line is where we are breaking down ATM. Fev can't kick 8 every week and if he gets stitched up then the lesser lights of Fisher, Betts (who's a great forward pocket man/run on the ball), Wiggo need to step up. Badly need a CHF, but Harts is injury prone. This is where we will be looking at recruiting next season. A CHF & a Ruckman.

7. JR has been an improver, his last quarter over Port was fantastic, Carrots gets the ball, but burns it too often, Scotto is having another decent season. Bents is a good in and under player, but disposal is a bit lacklustre at times, Griggy is a find, tough as nails, and looks promising, Hadley needs to be fit, but should be a good pickup, as is Pfieffs who is pushing for a spot too...

Have resigned Gibbsy, Fish, Betts & Jamo recently, Apparently Fev & Murph aren't too far way, so the list looks pretty shored up....

Predict we'll finish about 9/10th this season, with a big push for finals in 2009. Ratts seems to have the game plan sorted out, and the players respond well to his coaching. Off field we are flying with Princes Park getting redeveloped, over 40 000 members, excellent sponsorship and very healthy crowds...Hopefully we can put the dark years beyond us and move forward and become the 'Old Dark Navy Blues" once more.....

Good points Essbee but Walker and Houlahan are 5hite. Been impressed with Cameron Cloke the few times I've seen your boys. He looks a lot stronger than in previous seasons. Really looked the part against Geelong early but faded away as the Cats got on top.

regards,

Rebster, Houli is shite  , but what he gives is another option if one of the young one's go down.

Walks is a fine player, who will get better. Can play tall or small, and provides run off the HBF. With his
injury, it gave a chance to Jamo & Bowerbird to show something which they both did...

May find it hard to get back in  , where in last year BOTH players were walk up starters...

I'm stoked so far. If anyone at the start of the season said we'd be 6 & 6 then I would've looked at the programme to see if we'd played Essendon/Richmond 6 times & Geelong/St Kilda 6 times.

The progress of our younger second-tier players has been the most impressive part for me. Jamo, Grigg, Waite, Carazzo, Armfield, Browne, Krooz have all been solid to more than solid contributors already.

Murphy is definitely loving not having the no 1 tag each week and I still don't think Judd is at full capacity, despite what he said on On the Couch.

I don't expect us to play finals, but for us to look at having about 10 wins at the end of season is an achievement. Especially seeing we started 0-3!
