half way mark 2008

Talk on the national game

half way mark 2008

Postby hearts on fire » Tue Jun 10, 2008 6:33 pm

So far this year, these are some of the surprises........

Top Eight:
Western Bulldogs: I really didn't think they would do much this year
Hawthorn: We all knew they would be top 8 but after the finals last year, i didn't think they would be this dominant
Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide: I thought Brisbane were going to be in the bottom eight but with Bradshaw back, they are looking the goods. Sydney and Adelaide keep coming as usual and put up a decent show.

Bottom Eight:
Port Adelaide: I knew they may struggle this year but not as bad as this!
West Coast: With the loss of their guns, they were always going to find it tough, but who thought they would be equal 14th!
St.Kilda: Another disappointing year, another year of missed opportunities.

I think every other team is about where they were expected.

What are your thoughts on the season so far?

I am surprised that anyone is surprised St.Kilda are being mediocre underachievers yet again.

I agree. St Kilda have the most overrated list in the AFL.
Kosi, Goddard, Milne, Montagna, Gehrig, Clarke and even Riewoldt to some extent are all overrated.
Some of their shining lights are Harvey, Dal Santo, Hudghton, Hayes and S. Fisher.

I'd add Fremantle to that list of surprises - a few had them in their top four at the start of the year and while it is no surprise they are not in the 8 after r11, I don't think anyone would have guessed they'd have just 1 win at this point.

I didn't have Freo in my top 8, but I didn't expect them to struggle this much.
Having said that, it's not like they're getting belted every week so they're still around the mark...
