Nick Gill's prospects this season

Postby Hondo » Wed May 07, 2008 10:29 pm

We are already at round 8 and the team is playing well without either Hentschell or Gill. The AFC website lists him as available which is great! (Also good news wearning my Roosters hat ..)

But if he can't get himself back in the side or has a relapse and doesn't play this season will they offer him another contract? I thought he looked good last year and provided that X factor to the forward line. But I fear if he doesn't get himself back in the team for a decent number of games this year, they may move on without him. Hentschell will come back, Tippett looks great and Walker and Sellar are good juniors waiting in line.

What do we think?

I think he could be very good for us and I hope my pessimistic scenario doesn't come true. But he has to get his body right quick smart!!!

I like Gill, but he is injury prone and you can't keep carrying players like that.

If he does manage to stay injury free for the rest of the season, then I'd retain him over Kenny, who is still a reasonable player, but must be close to the end due to his lack of speed and inability to keep his feet.

At his age, he had to grab his chance and hold on to it. Others have leapfrogged him now, so his prospects are poor.

I am 99% sure he's out of contract at years end and I'm also 99% sure he will be delisted unless he can string some games together.

yeah he is out of contract at the end of the season
but with kenny badly out of form i think he will have a couple of games with the roosters and play in round a 10,11 or 12. 3 or 4 games in the sanfl.
i think the way that simon goodwin talked about him on tv last week. they want him in the crows team.

Gill fit and burton on fire wow

i think he will play more games than last year

I reckon having him, Tippett, Goodwin and Burton in the same forward line is definintly a good combination. Something I would like to seefrom the cows
