Tackling involves the player already being in possession. Bumping involves body work, not the uses of the hands to retard.

In contrast - arm chopping prevents, via the use of hands not body, a player taking possession of the ball.

In the old days - which is what this thread hankers for - the great full backs made an art form of spoiling.
