try and play one game mate, you'll realise how un-soft the game is. It's quicker than ever, so how you reckon it's soft is purely purile perception.

The umpiring decisions have taken the game to a new level, a ticky-touchwood level, however the game is as physical as ever. If you don't believe what I'm saying, try speaking to Voss or someone who's been in the mix. It's tough on the body.

I have no problem with the arm chop rule. It's the same as retarding a player going for the ball. .

Then if that's the case, lets get rid of bumping & tackling.
These also retard a player going for/having the ball.

Tackling involves the player already being in possession. Bumping involves body work, not the uses of the hands to retard.

In contrast - arm chopping prevents, via the use of hands not body, a player taking possession of the ball.

In the old days - which is what this thread hankers for - the great full backs made an art form of spoiling.
