Channel 10 cannot show it live. 10 choose to show a delayed telecast instead of the other game. Basically when this happens it isn't Foxtel's fault as they have paid for the rights to show the game live but the other station (be it seven or ten) choose to still play the same game on delay. Great for those Crows or Port fans who can't be bothered attending their sides games or who don't pay for Foxtel but for those that do it is very disappointing.
As I understand it was written into the TV rights deal that Power and Crows games must be on free-to-air every weekend regardless of who has the first rights to the game. I guess technically they could choose not to exercise their right to broadcast the games but they obviously never would. The big winners are the free-to-air stations at Foxtel's expense (in SA anyway).
I bet when the next rights are negotiated, Foxtel finally get their wish for exclusive Power and Crows games just watch their Adelaide subscriptions sky-rocket.
I agree its disappointing for the fans who pay for Fox and/or make the effort to go to the games but imagine the uproar if it didn't happen
