Joel Selwood

This kid is UNBELIEVABLE. I can't believe how good he is, seriously. The one thing that sets him apart from others is his football brain. He never makes a mistake.

If you dont fit into that structure, the best in the league, you dont play.Simple.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

hmm, I don't think he fits into Geelong's structure, maybe he should come over to Port and give their structure ago!

They could have picked him but they thought Travis Boak was better.

Both look almost certain to have long careers at AFL level so it's not exactly doom and gloom for Port.

and don't Geelong still have players to come back from injury?

and the other question is who will they drop for these players?

West for Ottens. West has a lot of potential and kicked a nice goal today but will continue to learn his craft in the VFL. It was the presence of West that made the King decision a lot easier for all concerned at Cat land.

Mackie for Taylor. Taylor had an excellent debut today but remember that even though it was his first match Taylor is actually 21. He reminds me a lot of Egan in many respects and has done the hard yards in the WAFL (not sure which club though). If they want that extra stopper Taylor might still get a gig but Geelong's method is to prevent the one on one's happening in the back half in the first place by having mid sized defenders zoning off their man to help out if there is a mismatch. Egan is miles off it so expect Taylor to get a few games.

Anyone for Byrnes. Like many Cat fans I scratch my head as to why we perservere with this bloke. He has pace but his disposal skills are shocking. Took his career record to 19 goals 40 behnds today. Anyone playing the Cats could double team a midfielder and let Byrnes off by himself. He won't hurt you. We all want Prismall in.

Drop Taylor? He was awesome on debut, really impressed. You can't drop him on that showing.

As for Geelong, they'll win the flag this year as they are scary. An absolute joy to watch.

It depends who comes into the side NFC. If Mackie is fit he comes back into the back six. Maybe Wojinscki would be looking over his shoulder as he is a bit predicatable. If I had my way Byrnes would be the first to go. Right now Geelong are making a concious decision to get games into Hawkins, Taylor, West and Gamble. I reckon Bomber has Byrnes in his SuperCoach side or something or that Prismall ran over his pet cat or something. Gamble has been even more impressive than Taylor IMO and might keep Tom on his toes but I reckon the Cats will carry Hawkins to some extent and only leave him out if he starts to lose confidence. Blokes like David Johnson, Travis Varcoe, Nathan Djekerra, Tom Lonergan and Kane Tenace are also waiting in the wings. I can't see Blackjack lasting next season so when he does play look out for some real desperation (some of which was displayed against Port).

i cant remember what his name is but he is incharge of the draft and under 18 champ. he reckons he was although joel got taken at 7 and scott got taken at 22. it will be interesting to watch the careers of all 4 and see if they can amass 1000 games between them

I think 2 or so years before Scott was drafted he was rated the best of the brothers but after Joel's performance in his first year at Geelong that would have been re evaulated.

I must admit, I've been ultra impressed with Sellwood this year too ... I mean I thought he was good last year but I probably didn't realise just how good.

In an interview with Joel, Joel said the youngest one was the best out of the 4 of them.
Mind you that was before Scott was drafted and Joel might have just been helping sell his little brother.
