ACL injuries are most commonly caused by pivoting, twisting or extending your knee beyond it's normal range of movement or control. Usually due to poor muscle conditioning around the knee and/or also poor footwear for the sport you are playing can also contribute as well.
I could rabbit on because I've dealt with them so much but I won't. But I will leave you with this little fact.
ACL injuries are more prelevant in women than men. Especially at "that time of the month"... true story...
Like I said before FC, I understand whe people say ACLs aren't an overuse injury, but couldn't poor muscle conditioning around the knee be caused by overtraining?
Probably not overtraining Andy, but undertraining/ lack of specificity in weight training to build the muscles that are specific to the sport. Even then, especially with sports like footy and skiing it's a game of luck..(or unluck if you like
