AFL Membership

Postby Wedgie » Wed Jan 23, 2008 6:50 pm

Out of curiousity I sent away for membership details for the AFL membership.
Basically you can get Silver Membership straight away and be upgraded to Full Membership in about 6-8 years (which includes GF tickets, etc) but I was amazed with the value especially compared to Footy Park membership which is quite a bit more.

For $310 pa you get:

40 matches in any combination at the MCG and Telstra Dome
Access to all home matches of the club you support (except for Adelaide and West Coast)
Access to all NAB cup matches and finals
Acccess to weeks 1 and 2 of the finals.
Access to purchase guest passes
Entry to International Cricket at the MCG in the AFL members area at general admission prices
Inclusion in your club's memberhsip numbers
Club memberhsip fulfillment pack
Financial support of your team ($119 of your membership goes directly to your club)
Access to purchase reserved seats at the cost of booking fee only ($5.50)

It can be paid monthly ($25.83pm).

There is a joining fee of $275 which you can also pay monthly.

Absolutely astonishing value if you live in Melbourne, I can't believe more people don't do it!

My problem is it would take 75 minutes to drive to either and you would still have to find a park and walk back. Melbourne's "good" public transport stops about half way out into the suburbs, and I am further out in the Dandenong Ranges.

Adelaide is just so easy to drive around in!

Living in Newport (15 mins out of Melb) - I have just signed up for this 2 weeks ago, got Mrs SCD and little SCD their memberships also (cost me over $1,500 all up - I paid up front) but given the games we will go to all year = a no brainer and easily better value then the AAMI Stadium membership we had in Adelaide.
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

Is a grand final ticket guaranteed at full membership level?
Can you got to all Port games at Aami Stadium if you nominate them as your club? (This would mean that you could get 40 Melb games plus 11 Adelaide based games???).
Wouldn't mind looking in to thisd a bit more - where do you get full details Wedgie (you said you sent away for them).
