It has no bearing. Why then is it most clubs appoint 'leadership groups' around Xmas?

Surely this gives some of the people in that group some licence to slack off,and people outside this group little motivation to try and get in it?

As REB said,non-issue.If what Port Adelaide is doing in the delaying of naming their captain is impacting upon you, perhaps put your thoughts elsewhere....

Huh? put my opinion here...WTF?

IMO I cant see any valid reaon why you wouldnt appoint a Captain as soon as the team comes back in November, if a player might not get through preseason and you waiting to see if he will is he the right choice for Captain? IMO if you have the leader settled in November everyone is heading in the same direction and the Captain can have a fair say in leading the group in the right direction

 oh i forgot they have done that for years because of the Captain's curse...

i don't think Tredrea is that great of a captain and i think he would benefit if he could just concentrate on his footy and not have to worry about the captaincy. Of course everyone would like to have the captaincy but i think the club would also benefit, because i think he would perform alot better aswell. As for who would take over, i couldn't really see anyone other than one of the Cornes brothers, I believe there isn't anyone else that would be able to do it.

A few years ago I would have said Chad, but he is now heading towards 30 so I think brother Kane should get the nod- has the skills and footy brain. While alot of teams have gone for multi captains I can't see PAP's going that way as they have tradition of no#1 jumper going to captain- would be great to see the 2 Cornes boys co-captains though!!
