Andrew Mcleod - What a Champion

Postby AFLflyer » Tue Oct 09, 2007 3:17 pm

I thought this would be an interesting topic / debate.

I think Macca (when he retires hopefully not for a few seasons ) will go out as the most celebrated / successful crow - ahead of Roo / Bickley / Hart / Jarman / Smart. What he has given to the club and the AFL already is second to none. This will only get stronger over the next few years. He's a champ - he deserved a brownlow the year the AKa won (2001 I thinK) 2 x premierships and norm smith medals - 5 times all australian - 3 times B&F winner = Legend.

I know Roo's career will be hard to top - but i reckon Maccas will top it!

Nah, Lleyton Hewitt was his best man. #-o

That will always be held against him and bring him back to the rest of the pack....

Best player, quiet possibly, but do you need to take into consideration his off field skills? Id question whether he is a natural leader around the AFC...considering game day is only about 5% of their time at the footy club I think this is an important factor when judging the complete package...

that part of Macca, his leadership influence off the field etc, has improved so much over the last few years, over the next few it will improve more.

he handles himself so much better in the media these days - I wonder how much he helps the younger players and how much they look up to him?

The Crows might not have two premierships without the freakish ability of Darren Jarman on Grand Final day, he's still my favourite Crow player, but Macca's alright as well.

Same here ... I know these types of thing are always speculative and we will never know, but IMHO Jarman was the key ingredient in both of those successes ...

McLeod has been a sensational player, no question, and when his playing days are over I hope the Crows find a place for him as an ambassadorial type figure for youth, given the staggering number of children, particularly indigenous, who view him as their hero.
