I think Collingwood are going it alone in the VFL using the model that has worked so well for Geelong.

The pies are going it alone so the VFL will be interesting next year.

That's a great idea, drop Collingwood to the VFL! :twisted:

Then if the Kangas relocate Melbourne may just be able to support the remaining AFL teams. Perhaps they could merge Carlton and Richmond to make sure. :wink:

It will be interesting to see how this works out. It has worked brilliantly for Geelong, it gives the club a chance to make sure all their listed players are playing seniors in the VFL rather than the system now were some might find themselves in the 2's because they have similar players fighting for the same Positions. (Or even playing in different sides.) I think it is a good move by Collingwood and i would suggest the crowd sizes will improve for their games as well which is an added bonus.

begs the question

maybe the Crows should put a side in the SANFL, this would allow the club to develop players in certain positions without worrying about the scoreboard, developing players would be the key purpose, not winning
