TOO casual?

Postby Mr66 » Sun Sep 30, 2007 10:06 pm

Daryl Wakelin has said that Port were too relaxed and casual going into Saturday's game.
Too cocky sounds more like it.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Interesting that Wakes admitted that

In hindsight it did seem that way. I reckon Chocko would re-think his game-lead-up strategy if he had his time again. Did the 'we have nothing to lose' line make the players lose their edge and think that losing was sort-of OK for them?

They said the Cats were too tense but maybe they were just staying focussed on what had to be done.
In between signatures .....

too cocky more like it

you could see it in Williams all week.......

PA build up was very very poor.... While Bomber focused on what he could control "his team", Williams continued to create the perception, all PA had to do was to turn up, because it was their "Destiny"

the club played in this manner

I dont think cocky is the right word, perhaps more an inflated opinion of our own ability, but could you go into a GF with any thing other than confidence?

Misplaced I grant you,but could you?
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I dont see how Port was cocky.
I think the media created that image of cockiness, especially through the great work of the Geelong Advertiser.
Being too cocky never lost a sporting fixture, being outclassed does.
Anthony Mundine has a brilliant record, he is as cocky as an elton john/molly meldrum spa bath.
But he's a great fighter, and wins.
Being cocky has nothing to do with it.
Being complacent might.
Being outclassed by a well-drilled, skillful young outfit does.
Ruthless and Relentless
