Geelong Donuts

Talk on the national game

The leadership team has allowed the return of Stephen Johnson,is this correct?

Bomber looked to be happy this had been done, perhaps the leadership group could organise another coup?

The Johnson suspension is an example of Geelong doing something right. The leadership group made a very tough decision to omit Johnson until Round 6 of the premiership season which is something that would never happen at the Eagles. Johnson has been a serial offender in the 'getting on the turps' regard and a strong message had to and was sent out to the player concerned.

The problem is that there haven't been enough tough decisions made down at Catland. How could we overlook a player as inspirational and committed as Paul Chapman for the captaincy in favour of Harley who hasn't been able to get on the park for years and has played half a game this season? At least Harley wants to the job (unlike King and Graham before him) but that's not much good if you are sitting in the grandstand.

From aflonline.com.au re Bomber Thompson:

"A reactive, unimaginative coach - getting out-coached by Alistair Clarkson and then Dean Laidley is like losing a spelling competition to a 9-year old kid then getting beaten up by his little sister."

LMAO

Rik E Boy wrote:Hawthorn are dead set ordinary. The Kangaroos are Shithouse. Yet both of these sides comfortably accounted for the Cats in the last two weeks. If you are from overseas or Mars and are thinking about following an AFL club do not follow the Cats, it just isn't worth it. Even St Kilda will deliver something ahead of this collection of duds.

Never have I seen a side less pumped up at home coming off a disappointing loss.

:x File

KING: It's over. Young ruckman who have played less than two seasons are flogging you every time out.
KELLY: Can't do a decent handpass despite being in the system for years.
COREY: Used to be overrated but now everyone knows he is just plain s***t. Doesn't do anything when the game is up for grabs but pumps up his stats in junk time.
MOONEY: Never has and never will kick the pressue goals.
BOMBER THOMPSON: Today showed without doubt he is the worst coach in the league bar none. Totally clueless and reactive. Last week Hodge had no oppenent and this week it was Simpson. Next week you can expect Brett Delido to get 35 touches. Thompson is a cancer who can reflect on his Essendon premierships with our cash in his pocket. **** OFF.
THE REVIEW: What a f****** joke that is. We got the boss to run a review of what had been happening under his nose for the past 12 months and we didn't change anything. Surprise surprise same s***t different year. FFS. The fans get told we are going to believe in ourselves and run and have a crack at the goals but that happy horseshit has dried up by round four.
JOHNSON: Not up to it. Why do think he's not at Essendon?
ENRIGHT: His disposal is rubbish. Best player for Kangaroos today.
LING: Severely limited. Got some cheapies today but the fact that he has gone from gun midfielder to run with player in the last few years says plenty. We should trade his arse.

8) The few positives from the train wreck that was today

SELWOOD: Terrific game. Showed more experienced Cats what it was about
BARTEL: One of the regulars who really had a crack
CHAPMAN: You can't keep a good Cat down. Why isn't this man Captain..oh that's right, he actually takes the field
VARCOE: Real pace and goalsense

Geelong are the donuts, defence looks OK, forward line not bad but the midfield is a giant black hole. Only Carlton rely on their young mids as much as we do. In every match this year we have been killed in the clearances, it was just that Melbourne and Carlton were crap all over the ground. The Kangas wanted it more and were prepared to work much harder. I can take losing to a team with more experience, size or class but losing to a team that is undermanned and on your own home deck one year after a 'searching' review is a giant shitburger for all of us Cats to eat. Unfortuntely, the Catters now only too well how to prepare this particular delicacy! Bomber and the duds have to go. Some of these blokes need to be traded while we can still get something for them. GFC need to grow some balls.

NOT A HAPPY

I remember last year you made similar comments / reviews on the Geelong list

BUT when the club won some late games you were prepared to give players such as Ling another opportunity

I did say at the time, it can be dangerous accessing players seasons based on wins when the season is all but over, I feel the club has retained players based on the last 6 weeks of season 2006, now we are seeing the same shite dished up from the playing group

We want to believe, but how can we continue to do so? I'll be dancing in the streets of Ipswich when Bomber walks.
