Thought I had GF Tickets

Postby Wedgie » Sat Sep 22, 2007 12:42 am

Last week the Power advertised tickets for a GF Breakfasat with Grand Final tickets inclusive, only catch was to make a $150 deposit for each ticket. Cost of each ticket was $600.
Got a phone call today saying they'd stuffed up and their tickets weren't sanctioned and they had to cancel them all.
WTF?
How unprofessional are these idiots?
Luckily for me I was planning to drive and stay at a mates place as I have a leased car but I know many people that booked flights and accomodation and will be thousands of dollars down thanks to the incompentence of the turquoise morons.
FFS only advertise something if its a done deal.
Morons.

I had no idea that Port people would sell something that wasn't theirs.

What would have Port Adelaide offered on the menu?

Oh crap....my old man and sister have done a deal similar to that, and both booked flights over and back in the day. He'll be well pissed if it's the same mob..

What a cockup of monumental proportions.

I'm in two minds, I want to beat Port in a GF, that'd be sweet in Geelong's only premiership in my life time but IMHO it's better for North Adelaide if the Kangaroos win as I can see Port taking Lonie and White out of the 2nd Semi on Sunday.
I don't think I can go, having a family and a mortgage I don't think I can afford it and there's a good chance North will be playing in the Prelim the day after and it would be hard to drive back after a win.

Yeah, there were 2 packages they advertised but if I'd taken the package with the dinner the night before (same price) I would have been alright. :(

That's the same deal my old boy did too. Shite. I was 99% going to fly home (from London) relying on one of those tickets. All up cost would be £3,000 for me + missus. $10,000 AUD is an expensive cockup - geez I'm glad I listened to the boss now on this one!

If I were you Wedgie, I'd still go to Vic and try to rely on a scalper.
It's not often you get a chance to see your team play in a GF.

Nah mate, just stating the GFs I got to go to.
I was a Footy Park member in 97 and got myself 2 tickets to the GF which made the missus's decade as she's a Crows fan.
Must admit I jumped on the wagon for the day especially the way Darren Jarman went.
Funny day actually as we drove my missus's laser over for the game, stayed at Ballarat where it stalled, got a bus in from there and went back to the Ballarat for the celebrations in a big tent where I snuck in for free but couldn't leave even to go to the toilet as I had no ticket.
Managed to last about 4 hours without a piss and slept in a cabin in the Ballarat Caravan Park.
Luckily it was easy to push a Laser to get it started all the way back home, still remember the blue, red and yellow cows in the paddock outside of Murray Bridge to this day.

94 was fun as we went to the Prelim too and was at the end where Ablett kicked the winning goal after the siren, spent most of the 94 GF day abusing Crows supporters who were with us on the bus all barracking for West Coast.

should have got a membership that g'tees you a GF ticket....easiest way, although dont knwo if the bigger Melbourne clubs have that option, one of the advantages of supporting a club with a small membership base!

Any Port friends?, if they get thorugh Im sure there would be many of them that wouldnt be able to afford the trip (being serious here)
