West Coast as reverse tigers

WA State Guernsey??? They weren't even thought of then. Heritage round should be general ie. not specific to a particular era such as the seventies. Unfortunately for clubs like Adelaide and Freo, It will mean just wearing their usual guernsey. I would have much preferred to se the 87 era Eagles jumper tonight.

Channel 10 commentators were whinging that Chris Judd had to wear it......

I bet he wasn't whinging when Blighty wore the BIG V .

Why is it silly?
Its the 70s round.
West Coast Eagles wore a guernsey worn in the 70s.
Fremantle are going to wear a guernsey that was worn in the 70s.

I don't remember the guernsey that the Crows wore ever been worn by any real club in the 70s.

I also don't remember the 1977 Port team being sponsored by Vodaphone.

Someone's got 70's heritage round right and sure as hell aint the two South Australian teams. :?

I don't think any team now has the same sponsor back then.

Yeah, I thought about that as well - all the sponsors, and crap that's on guernseys now, including umpires uniforms, shouldn't be on there.

I want to see if there has been any sponsors advertising on Norths guernseys since the SANFL celebrated heritage round.

I found that pic and thought it was too good not to post.

North haven't had one sponsor or advertiser since they've brought back heritage guernseys and that's the only way it should be done.

NAFC have been very fortunate with their arrangements with their major sponsor who has obviously allowed this. Not all clubs have the same type of relationship with their sponsors. It's nice to be idealistic about a heritage guernsey, but it's just not realistic ask most club CEO's. A heritage round guernsey is just the colours and designs of a past era brought forward to modern day. They are never meant to be an exact, authentic replica otherwise it would have a lace-up and be made out of wool ..... or canvas ...

It's heritage ROUND, celebrating a past era, not re-creating it. Did they have sports drink back then? Should the players wear 70s boots? Should we get rid of all the assistant coaches (none of them existed in the 70s)? Should we all rock up to 70s round in Kingswoods and Valiants too? Some of us prob could I suppose :)
In between signatures .....

I think major sponsors only came along in the 80s, Ive got a Geelong guernsey from the 80s that has no sponsor on it.

Wedgie, I 'm pretty sure Sturt was the first to have a major sponsor on their guernseys.
Around 1977 and I think it was Datsun.
