For me, if you have to do it mid-season it probably reflects an incorrect decision made the year before.

5 rounds maybe a bit quick ..... but it depends on the facts and the history leading up to it .... who knows? Also depends on the Coach's contractual situation and how much money the club has to pay him out if needed.

Once a D is made at a Footy club or in the work-place it's very hard for everyone to keep working together like nothing happened. So I think once the club decides next year will see a new coach in, and the current season is GONE, then prob best to move on and get yourself a care-taker.

I feel for Daniher it's got to be the worst way to go out.

The only time I would sack a coach mid season would be if overwhelming evidence came forward that the coach was not giving 100% for the jumper and his loyalties lay elsewhere.

I dont think this was the case in Daniher's situation, Melbourne's problems have been ongoing since the 1950's, the club has traditionally had major political problems with division within. The more recent situation with Joseph Gutnick probably has more to do with the current situation than anything that Neil Daniher has done.
