Freo wont suspend Tarrant

Connolly has already said Farmer's suspension was a result of a series of incidents at the club

even though Tazz has a history of off field incidents, Freo will go soft because this is his first incident at the club

Interesting that Tazz's previous coach has come out and said that last year Collingwood handled the Johnson and Tazz off field incident poorly and both players should of been suspended, this is why this year the Pies suspended three players after breaking a curfew

Freo needs to make sure that their penalty ot only fit's the crime but also drives the right culture and behaviour at the club

Over here, they are calling for Freo to be consistent.

They set the benchmark with Farmer (an incident whilst out drinking) and Perth expects Tarrant to get a similar whack. However, everyone knows that Tarrant is seen as important to Freo at the moment and with Farmer coming back, the cynics say that they will go lightly on the ex-Magpie with the track record because Connolly needs a finals berth to save himself from the axe.

IMHO justice won't prevail because the club desperately needs the finals to arrest a drop in faith and membership.

The smokie is the AFL - they may ask why Farmer and Tarrant are going to be dealt with differently and may push Freo to hand down a penalty ... hopefully.

I favour a uniform national policy imposed by the AFL and all state leagues: one act of drunken public yobbery three matches suspension, a second 10, a third life! The same for Cricket and Thugby. Soccer? - there would have to be penalties for falling over and wailing!

Perhaps we could then extend it to politicians and lawyers for being caught lying....
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

Its a bit unfair just describing Hale as a typical politician, he's had a lot to do with footy in the NT, currently coaches their junior side and coached the NTFL side against North last year. I must admit I wasn't aware he was a politician till this happened as I met him last year on the Sat night and the Sun arvo when he came to the Lizard Lounge where myself, Mrs Wedgie and the North players and coaches were to make good on a bet that he had to wear a North guernsey, it made the ABC news and I still have it somewhere on a aDVD.
He came across as a top bloke and Im sure he was just sticking up for the lady trying to let Tarrant know where he stood in the scheme of things with locals.
Tarrant should have the bloody book thrown at him, in fact Hale is being incredibly nice about it, if I was Hale I'd have Tarrant up on a charge.

I made a bet with a Dockers fan when I said that he would be in the papers for an off-field incident by the end of the home-and-away season.

Leopards and spots!!!

You should offer him double or nothing, because somehow I don't think it will be the last this year!

Judging by the rumour there's a chance ... word is that he will get one game (v Carlton), get a handful as a suspended sentence (don't we all love them) and a fine of $5000 or $10000.

If that's true, God I'd love to beat those pricks next week over here at Subi - a flogging on their own turf, thinking they could get away with dropping Taz, and at the same time stuffing any hopes of finals AND ensuring Connolly gets the arse!

Please please please, go Blues!

FREMANTLE forward Chris Tarrant has been fined $5000 and suspended for one game for punching a prospective parliamentarian at a Darwin nightclub last weekend.

Tarrant will miss the game against Carlton next weekend, and will also have a further two-match sanction suspended until the end of next season.

After almost a week of investigations by the club and the AFL, the Dockers today handed down the punishment to the former Magpie after the incident at the Lost Arc nightspot in Darwin last weekend.

In a statement, the Dockers said they considered Tarrant's behaviour in punching ALP federal candidate Damian Hale "unacceptable by both club and community standards".

They also said Tarrant had breached club protocols by failing to inform the club immediately and fully of the events of last Saturday evening.

"In establishing the appropriate sanctions, the club recognises this is the player's first breach of club rules at the Fremantle football club," a statement said.

"Since joining the club, Chris' attitude and behaviour to the club and the team have been outstanding.

"However, Chris and all players, when faced with these situations, must exercise greater restraint."

Tarrant was accused of baring his backside at a woman in the early hours of Sunday morning, and then punching Hale after he took issue with the former Magpie's behaviour.

After initially denying the extent of the brawl, the Dockers were forced to backtrack after Hale appeared in public sporting a black eye and detailing the scuffle.

The club then asked the AFL to carry out an independent inquiry.

Pretty much Connolly has said that with Farmer - his incidents had become to frequent and the last was the straw that broke the camels back.

damien hale was also the coach of St marys football club for a few years and also the aboriginal allstars coach up there for a few years also. i think it was from years 2001 - 2004 ( dont quote me on that). he could be a hard man at times , maybe damien hale deserved it or maybe he didnt who knows but might have been the case of damien hale pushing the point.
