Seems as if Grant Thomas & Rod Butterss are suing one another over some upaid loan back in 2001.
Looks like this is the reason why Thomas got the arse September.
Idiots.
This club is a waste of time, space, money & oxygen.
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

I see your St Kilda and raise you one Geelong. After a truly inept performance last week where the coach gets up and calls everyone in the club mentally week we make precisely ZERO changes for the next match. Go figure.

My point was that they didn't outright drop a few players after two crap performances in a row. A certain regal one comes to mind.

The sum of money changed hands between Butters and Thomas 13 days before both of them voted to sack Blight from the coaching position and install Thomas into the job.

A cynic might suggest that Thomas in this position would have been able to make any repayments without too many problems. Questions could then be asked if this had any bearing on the decision to sack Blight mid season?

St Kilda looked so confident in 1997, gee I enjoyed watching Mark Bickley lead the Crows to that first ever Grand Final win! 8)

What has that got to do with Thomas and Buttersssss? Regardless of how far my "Death to Grant Thomas" campaign extends - that's a long bow to draw.

Why are we discussing St. Kilda and Geelong? Both rubbish football clubs that are notorious underachievers. It is a real shame that because of the Victorian influence and population that clubs like Geelong, Footscray and St. Kilda (who have never achieved anything) are on display at the pinnacle of the sport while a club like Norwood is struggling to survive. I hate Norwood but at least they have actually achieved something of substance in the last 25 years and they have a history of success.

Imagine if the Norwood Footy club ceased to exist and the Footscray Football Club ceased to exist at the same time. The history of one would be a shame to lose but the other??????????

Good post, ideally we could have had the NFL a bit stronger in the late 80s and a truly national comp set up with no Crows or Power or Dockers or Eagles ever being thought of.

Current table:

South Fremantle
Central Districts
Port Adelaide
Sydney
Essendon
North Adelaide
Brisbane
Collingwood
Hawks
Saint Kilda
WWT Eagles
Footscray
Geelong
Subiaco

And an equally as good battle in the 2nd div with teams such as Norwood, Carlton, Richmond, Melbourne, Sturt, East Fremantle, East Perth, etc.

the relationship turned sour because Butterss wanted to implement a Football Operations Manager position to the club, which seems to be a standard role at most clubs

BUT as Thomas was a total "Control Freak" he rejected the move and this became a continue issue between Butterss and Thomas

This situation, led to other Grant Thomas issues,

1. Thomas, advised all players he would handle contract negotiations, players advised their Managers to only deal with Thomas, the result of this list management strategy, in 2007 the Saints could not fill their final two spots on their list due to Salary Cap pressures

2. Thomas consistently over ruling medical staff. Lyon's interview this week basically was a confession that the club over the past 3-4 years have played injured players and not provided them with adequate and sufficient recovey programs. Lyon went so far as saying that young Clark could not even walk when he got to the club, this was a result of POOR rehabilatation program and players been cleared to play against the medical teams advise.

For those who continue to blame TD, well maybe if the Saints managed their players welfare with more duty of care the TD would not be such an issue

3. Thomas Recruitment and Game Strategy. The refusal to recruit and play with a recognised ruckman, enough said

All these issues turned the Butterss - Thomas relationship and friendship sour, once friendships turn sours than parties usually decide to reclaim what is rightfully theirs, in this cas it is $1m that Butterss loaned Thomas in Good Faith

Whats your expert opinion on all the Western Bulldogs injuries in 2006 ?
They share the same home ground.
