Fox Footy - 2002 or 2012?

Postby Mr66 » Wed May 09, 2012 11:18 pm

We've had Fox Footy, Mark 2, for about three months now and I'd like to know
people's response to it.
I liked the 2002 version better.
More variety in its programming. You had White Line Fever (RIP Clinton) on each day
followed by a different show for all five days. VFL,SANFL and WAFL were shown at a reasonable times and you had all clubs doing in-house shows, not just Essendon & Collingwood.
Thoughts?
If one person does it, it's insanity. If millions do it, it's religion.

Didn't like the 2002 version as much. Cats kept losing the matches.

Did enjoy the 2002 version a bit more variety. Did enjoy White Line Fever (Rip Clinton) and the highlights of old matches. Too much of the same on every day now. Each state had their own version which was disappointing in some ways because the WAFL used to have some cracking matches in the 70'- 80's that they showed highlights of on the WA version. We can only hope it improves. The two archive sites have plenty of video highlights that they could show.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Love both. But 2012 for me.
Hardly ever miss 360 or Open Mike.
Both brilliant shows.
Only thing I'd like to see is more old school matches, even if its just highlights.
Could easily do away with the repeating of shows from earlier in the week.

2002 version also had interactive options for matches which was pretty good. You could turn off commentary, change camera angles, get current game stats... always liked putting it on a certain player & just watching how much work they actually do off the ball

wouldnt mind seeing that in the new version, also with 10yrs more advanced technology the interactive bit could be brilliant!

I like Open Mike and On The Couch, don't mind 360 but Whateley and Robinson both annoy me at times. Do enjoy hearing Mooney and Hall on Thursday nights however.

Some older games would be good, and I'd love to see a show put together about Richmond but I'm sure it would be up to the individual clubs. I much prefer Collingwood's show as opposed to Essendon's. The Bombers show seems very put-on with an official in studio interview each week. If I'm gonna watch I don't want to see a player in a studio giving the same answers he's give at any other press conference. Collingwood's spends a lot more time in behind the scenes getting to know the players and their personalities, the real stuff of a footy club.

I didn't know there had been a version in 2002 and have seen nothing of the 2012 version.
I guess that defines my interest in this kind of made up competition. ;)
