ADELAIDE NOW - KANGA'S BID $1M FOR JUDD

Talk on the national game

Postby Dutchy » Sun Apr 15, 2007 1:10 pm

hear what your saying SD...my understanding is clubs have to pay at least 92.5% of the cap ($7m?), if they are only paying the minimum now then that gives them $600k immediately available to pay Judd...anyway will be interesting times, Judd has said he wont sign until after the year which makes me think he is considering his options, if he was keen on a dynasty at the Eagles he would be signing now, he is taking a risk by not signing on now...what happens if he does his knee?

it's a massive decision for Judd, I can't remember a more creditial player, in their absolute peak of their career, playing at a recent Premiership club deciding to make such a move

it will send clubs in a recruiting strategy frenzy

Using future years' draft picks has been standard practice in American Football for some time, I think it will find it's way to the AFL soon. Hell, in American Football, Coaches can (and are sometimes) be traded for draft picks.

i personaly cant see Juddy leaving the eagles. but if he had no intention of leaving, why wouldnt he of had a contracy extension? he couldnt be holding out in the hope he'll be a better player to get more money? you cant get much better than he already is. and surely he would have known the media and everyone would have jumped and started all this talk about a player of his calibre becoming a free agent at the end of the season? and about the salary cap situation at other clubs, i'm sure if you said to a clubs whole roster "if we all take a 10 or 20% paycut we can have chris judd suiting up for us next year", most players wouldnt bat an eye-lid at the thought of losing 10% of their salary.

if you ask me, all the signs point to him leaving,or he'd have signed on again already.

Must be great for a club's morale when their club already announces getting players for the following year.

Who would want to play for the Knagaroos anyway ???

Pathetic history, pathetic supporter base, pathetic coach, pathetic playing style, pathetic future.......

They are in wet dream land if Judd would even consider urinating on their clubrooms. Kerr might but not Judd.

Bit harsh, as a Geelong man I can only but hold the Kangaroos in awe with what they've done with what they've had over the years.
And any club that bases their entire structure around a North Adelaide junior for the entire 90s has to be pretty good!

Let's follow the NRL's lead. There is a competition to envy.

FWIW Judd supported Melbourne as a kid and the rumours are if he goes back to Melbourne he'd prefer to play for them.
