also what if a player in the GF says i am gonna have a ripper of a game today and u back him for norm smith and he wins it.
What if a 19 year old player, says to his old man, "hey I'm going start up forward instead of down back", then the old man tells his mates about his son, as he would and some bloke puts some cash on him to kick the first goal?
Do we still fine and suspend the player. Or in the lead up to all games should there be a communication black out?
I mean come on seriously.
Unfortunatly the modern day footballer has to be careful who he tells any information to.
Betting is a multi billion dollar industry and there is lots of money to be made by people who dont mind bending the rules/laws either.
It has to be this way otherwise the AFL will become like test cricket any time the Pakis are involved or like watching the Tour de France when nearly every bloke who wins it then automatically becomes suspicious.
Could think of nothing worse than watching a game of AFL and a bloke misses a shot at goal from 10 meters out and the first thought is...... theres something wrong there, that how sports such as cricket are when the Paki first slip drops an absolute dolly.
