Don't be fooled into thinking that the Irish players are in anyway like local amatuer footballers.

Sure, they're not highly paid professional athletes but these guys train way above any level of local or even SANFL players.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I got the impression Australia didn't take the game seriously enough to select the best team nor to train long enough to become effective with a round ball.
It's not that hard to learn. When I was goalie for an internal team at my old high school I could kick the round ball better than most of our team did.

Actually I was better with the round ball then the Aussie ball - must be the English genes showing through.
(My mother grew up in the UK and so did my father's parents.)

No one will ever take this thing seriously, unless we start playing our best players and train properly for it!!

Crowds were sh1t house, just made me depressed when i started watching it, so gave up on it!

I reckon they should have picked retired blokes like Cam Mooney and Bazza Hall rather than the duds they picked . Be nice to see them go out swinging
