I am not sure if we can blame the AFL for Essendon, Collingwood and Carlton refusing to come up with decent alternative guernseys. They must lack something in the license agreement because the AFL seem to have to coax the clubs into it and the clubs seem to be able to resist without any repercussion. I applaud St Kilda for being willing to give up the red in their guernsey when required and Fremantle for being the first to come up with a white guernsey which is the easiest way to avoid a clash.
Other codes seem to have it sorted with clubs happily decking out in mostly white anti-clash uniforms when required. It should be easy for Carlton and Collingwood because they already have white in the colours. How hard is it for Carlton to reverse their standard guernsey and have a navy emblem on a white uniform?
