Sports Jocks were sports jocks even in my day, and few of them were anywhere near the top academically.
Add the decline in teaching the basic knowledge that underpins learning skills, since the 1980s, and it is not really surprising.
Without that foundation what is learned to pass exams is superficial, and as Banker said it fades fast.

Nah I reckon SANFL players would have them covered. When they're not playing football they actually have 'real' jobs to perform which would require more intelligence than gambling, playing XBox and watching DVDs.
