In a press conference the other week ( to announce he had resigned with the Bulldogs ) a media person was heard to say : "I used to live in Adelaide" to which Cooney quipped : "Oh, you manged to get out too".....got a few laughs, must admit I had a chuckle too.

F: J.Porplyzia Brett Ebert A.Didak
HF: A.Monfries M.Pavlich B.Vince
C: R.Griffen B.Gibbs M.Mattner
HB: A.Mackie N.Bock S.Fisher
B: C.Enright B.Lake S.Goodwin
R: D.Brogan A.Cooney K.Cornes
I: M.Jamar S.Hurn S.Thompson C.Cornes

Doesn't seem quite the team we would have had 10 years ago, but still pretty strong. Lacks another Pavlich type and another Cooney type to be up there with the Vics.

Other possibles are S Burgoyne, Waters, Johncock, Rutten, D Motlop, Pearce (qualify?), Stokes, Varcoe, Thomas, Grundy (qualify?), Brad Ebert. I think you'd have to consider Justin Westhoff too given the state of our forward line.

I think I would add Rutten (drop Goodwin), add Burgoyne (drop Monfries) and seriously consider Grundy, Johncock & Pearce. We are OK for defenders but our forward line is lacking.
In between signatures .....

When SOO was being played with The Allies involved it was nigh on impossible to work out who qualified for who. So if he was born in SA, for the purposes of this exercise then yes, he is ours.

The rules from memory were changed to get Carey in an Allies guernsey to try and add more credibility to the series as a whole.

SA would get smashed against the Vics given who would be available to play. Only one quality key forward (Pavlich), is a bit of an indictment.

There's not any decent options for Full Forward. That's where another Pavlich type is needed. Mattner is the other who is punching above his weight. Another Cooney type replacing him and the team would be pretty strong.

The story behind goodes goes along the lines of being a born and bred south aussie but playing first organised game of footy in victoria (either horsham or mildura) hence playing for victoria in these types of games. similar scenario to greg inglis and israel folau with rugby state of origin

was in mildura. merbein to be precise. my old club.

he kicked 7 of his teams 9 goals in his first ever game. my older bro kicked one of the others!

he'll say he's from Horsham though, as he only lived in mildura for a year or so, and then moved to horsham as a 16 or 17 year old.
