'Shut the f**k up Donnie, you're out of you element'. If I had to pick my two funniest parts it would be where The Dude nails a piece of timber to the floor inside his house to stop Jackie Treehorn's goons getting in, only to find the door opens outwards. And when Walter , after a tribute to Donnie which involves the mandatory Vietnam references tries to spread Donnie's ashes which end up all over The Dude.

Yes, indeed. Poor Donnie.

I also like Jesus (the pederast bowler) and his threat: "You pull any of your crazy shit with us, you flash a piece out on the lanes, I'll take it away from you, stick it up your a$$ and pull the f**king trigger 'til it goes..."click."" The earlier shot of him and his partner polishing their bowling balls is priceless.

What do you want to use it for?

To replace Foxtel. More importantly, to cut our Foxtel bill.

Replacing Foxtel with what though? Netflix? iTunes? Torrented tv shows?

If you have an Xbox or PlayStation that would do almost all of what you want

You could re-watch it, or it seems like Grenville and I could probably recite it from start to finish (separate thread of course). ;)

Not sure you understand my question.

What sort of content do you want to watch on the apple tv? There are lots of options, and a jailbroken apple tv is one of them. But if you arent really that tech literate Im not sure i would recommend it

No Benny I didn't. Gotcha now.

Most of the content on Fox is available elsewhere. My missus watches reality tv ad nauseum, Kardashians, Bachelor, Survivor etc, etc. We also watch the Crime channel and I watch sport a fair bit (international cricket and Fox Footy in particular). But for 100 a month, we reckon we can pretty much do without it.

Tech literate? Why so??

Was more commenting on the jailbroken part. If you dont download stuff using torrents, you wont need it to be jailbroken.

My recommendation would be to try out netflix. There are a multitude of ways to watch it - smart tv, apple tv, ps3, xbox one, among others. That was the main reason I asked about what devices you have

I dont think you could find your sport anywhere else except for free to air tv.

At home, we have foxtel base+sport+hd, for $60 a month.

My wife likes movies and drama, but we also didnt want to pay $100+ a month. So we decided to give netflix a go, and she finds more than enough to watch on there. (We also pay a little extra to get around the geo-blocking and watch US netflix)

The only show that I find other ways to watch is Game of Thrones. Other than that netflix is awesome.

For $60 foxtel and $9 for netflix we find that is very good value.

There are other streaming services too, stan and presto the two biggest. Most have a month free trial so you could have a look at all of them and work out the one that has most of what your wife wants to watch.

What sort of devices do you have now? You may already be able to get netflix to your tv and not even know it.

A short term option might be to ring up foxtel and say you want a better deal or else you will cancel. I have heard of people getting pretty big discounts doing that.

Oh I download lots of stuff Benny. Most of it can be Netflix'd, Stan'd or Presto'd though. The benefit for us will be that all footy games will be there next day. So we only miss out on live fox footy games. Even then thereare ways around these things.

Gotcha

You sound similar to me then, with a mix of netflix and downloaded stuff. Personally I have a samsung smart tv that works quite well. It has a netflix app (as well as presto and stan but i dont have them) , and also connects to the media server that is set up on my PC to stream downloaded stuff to the TV.

My xbox will also do both of those things too.

There are a lot of android based media players out there these days that will do the same job, so they might be worth looking into as well, especially if you dont have apple phones or tablets. It does sound like an apple tv would do the job though

I didn't fully respond to your question either.

I rang Foxtel and got our price reduced from 102 to 45 with IQ2. The only thing we lost was sport. The way it was packaged up we can get the sport for an extra 25 a month. At least this way we can work out if its worth the added expense. Obviously the benefit of the HD that comes with IQ2 is sport but we will work out whether its worthwhile over the next few weeks.

sounds like a pretty good deal

I feel like foxtel really have to start moving with the times and charging less. If i could get everything for say $80 i would likely do it, but at the moment It is like $130 which is ridiculous.

I am hoping that once 7HD launches and HD footy or rugby league is no longer a selling point for foxtel, they drop the $10 a month for HD and the packages get even cheaper.

You would hope so Benny. The really disappointing thing is that they rely on me getting to the stage I want to throw it in before commending me on 13 years loyal service before giving me a discount.

45 bucks is ok but like I said we will decide if we can 1 do without sport for 25 a month and 2 whether we can do without Fox altogether. I suggest when we get the Apple Tv we will easily be able to do '2' and thereby save 45 a month. My missus said last night that if we stop Fox she will miss the IQ. I said to her that with Apple and its streaming you don't need the IQ component at all.
