X Factor 2011

Postby Brucetiki » Mon Aug 29, 2011 10:56 pm

After the disaster that was X Factor 2010, where no one made it big, we're back to see the latest in mediocre Australian music talent in 2011.

So far, there haven't been that many standouts. The fact that Up Front got through really shows how thin the talent is.

Having said that, Emmanuel Kelly was amazing - not a dry eye in Hisense Arena after that audition, and what an incredible story.

I commented to my missus watching it that if Guy and whatsisface asked chicks to take their tops off, they'd be front page news for being sexist pigs. What a world we live in hey?

Just shows how low the talent is this year when they have to dedicate a whole section to guys taking their tops off but with singing talent so bad most of us on here could sing better!

Couldn't agree with you more on the hypocrisy happening there though.

X Factor? I can only wonder about the Why factor? If you've got talent get out there and tour FFS. If it's good enough for the Stones, Beatles, Zeppelin and Elvis it should be good enough for you. Shit, even the Pistols had a go and they couldn't play for shit!

Haha that bloody bloke was terrible.

The best talent by an absolute mile is Josh Brooks. The unemployed 19 year old fro Perth who had the two little divas with him. He sang Usher 'u got it bad'. This bloke was simply superb.

Also, Pamela cook, a mates cousin so il be watching her closely. Her story is tragic with the breast cancer while pregnant and fighting through it. She can bloody sing as well

Now that we're down to the last 6 for each category, what do people think of the judges decisions.

Mel B and Natalie have pretty much got the right 6 for the u/25 girls and 25+ respectively. 25+'s appear to be the strongest group with the top 3 looking to be very tough to pick.

Guy's done a reasonable job with the u/25 boys, though he appeared to contradict himself. He sends Emmanuel home for forgetting words (this may sound harsh but IMO he made the right call there), but then lets through the next guy who was worse!

Ronan appears to have not learnt from the Altiyan debacle with Up Front. Their singing talent would be borderline at best (had any of the other judges got the groups they would not have made top 12 let alone top 6), and they seem to spend more time arguing with themselves than anything else. I seriously hope they don't make top 3 because there is some talent in the groups and one of the other groups doesn't deserve to fall at the last hurdle for Up Front.

Guy has made some interesting choices with his top 3 for the under 25 guys.

He's made the right call with Johnny and Reece but I would have had Trent in instead of Declan.

Ronan's made the right call with the top 3 - especially with sending Up Front home (I don't think the show would have survived if they got through and won - would have been Altiyan all over again). I reckon Audio Vixen would be a good chance of winning.

5 of Mel B's top 6 could have made it to top 3. That would have been tough for Mel B and Mel C to get that down to 3, but I think they've done a good job picking the top 3 under 25 girls.

Natalie had a tough job picking the top 3 over 25's, as they all could have gone through and done well. It didn't matter who she picked she will have 3 strong contestants.

So all up, what looked like a quite mediocre audition process a strong top 12 has emerged. Declan's IMO is probably the weakest, but still has the potential to do quite well in the live shows. Going to be a great set of live shows the next few weeks.

i reckon nat made a massive mistake... that bigger lady with the incredible voice, she was by far the best singer in the whole comp.. Nats reasoning was pretty much she was to talented  ... that old guuy shouldnt have got through!!
