Some classic Dr Smitherisms

Bubbleheaded Booby
Neanderthal Ninny
Indeed !
Cacking computer
Tinplated traitor
Oh dear
Deplorable dummy
Cowardly Clot
How dare you !
Save me William
My back is a disaster area
Never fear Smith is here

Harris eventually coxed Irwin Allen into allowing him to dialogue his Smitherisms

Michael Rennie dare not call his robot a Bubble headed Booby !!

Johnathon Harris and Michael Rennie both starred in a TV show called The Third Man[1959-1965]
This ''dynamic duo'' would be great to watch together

Has the Third Man ever been shown on Australian TV ?

in the doco ''dr smith and crew" (1980's) (which i gave mal a copy & he still hasn't seen it  ) jonathon harris said ''i get letters all the time & i personally answer each & every one of them, if people care enough & take the time to write to me i'll take the time to do the same'' (wish i knew before he passed away)

A bit off topic, but I once sent an email to Leon Askin from Hogans Heroes, about 5 or 6 years ago. Got a couple line reply. He was in his early/mid 90's, he passed away about 3 or 4 months later.

At some stage a villian was needed in Lost In Space
That role went to Johnathon Harris
Another actor was considered for the part of Dr Smith
That actor was Jack Elam
Elam was a scary looking actor, he had an EYE for villanous parts in his acting career

I cant imagine Elam or mostly any other actor being as good as Harris for the Dr Smith part
I mean can you imagine the Green Lady calling out Pretty pretty Dr Smith to Jack Elam !

The question I pose is
Could or was there another actor who could have played Dr Smith as well ?

I have pondered a few who might have
But none that I can envisage doing it as well
You need to have a weak,y pitiful, talented acting person
I nominate Kurt Kasznar, the man who played Alexander Fitzhugh in the Land Of The Giants

Who else could have played Dr Smith ?
