Sturts run home

Would like to hear some ppls thoughts on Sturts run home to the finals. I think that each game is a big test and definitely could define whether we are a true contender or still a few years away from the big one. I think winning 75% of these games would be fantastic and get us 2nd spot but we could see us fall to 4th if we stuff it all up.
Huge test for the club in this last month or so.
Go blues!

Bring on the rain for this week I say.
Sturt killed us in the first meeting this year with their slick transitions across half-back to switch the play and expose our lack of pace and accountability for direct opponents.
Second meeting at Unley was better, and it was probably just fitness and delivery that cost us.
We've improved since then though. Our discipline is still poor, but our structure is better, our rebound is far more effective and our forward entries* are far more suitable for a bloke like Hargs to capitalise on.
The real issue will be if we can contain Chambo and if Miekeljohn/Maric can quell the influence of Feast, who looks better this year than ever before.

Come on Fatty. Maric wont play for the Maggies this weekend.

Not named in the Crows I didn't think - they've opted for Miessen...

From the AFL site:
"Adelaide has dumped young ruck pair Ivan Maric and Jonathon Griffin and brought Ben Hudson in from the cold, with John Meesen also in to make his AFL debut."

Certainly not an easy run into the finals Jimmy. All will be tough games but at the same time all will be winnable if we're up to it. It's all a tough learning experience for our young team. So long as we don't suffer any blowouts, it will stand us in good stead whether we win or lose. I predict wins against Port and the Bays.

1. I posted an ODDS string & was 'wiped' by Dogwatcher because, & I quote...
"Unlicenced gambling is illegal"
2. Based on 4 games & the odds I gave for each, 14 to 1 is required... err... are you prepared to lose $1500 ???
3. Toodle-pip is a VERY 'posh' type goodbye.

Came into popular usage in SA circa 1901 I think...
...about the same time as other phrases like "bandwagon", "frontrunner" and "this playground will do as a homeground"...

It's a pretty tough run home Jimbob but speaking to a couple of the players, their thoughts are they would prefer it that way. What is the point in coming up against the likes of South and West leading up to the finals?
All four sides we play before the end of the minor round are beatable and one mustn't forget we have beaten all of them already this season, so why should the boys be fearful?
Tomorrow's game is important in the scheme of things as it will all but sew up a top three berth. So sure, there is some pressure there but we are not the only side under that same pressure. If North get over WWT and we get the chocolates against Port then there will be MASSIVE pressure on the Eags to win all of their remaining games (whilst hoping we drop all of ours) and make up over 2% of percentage. If North get beaten then they are right under the pump and a chance to miss the double chance.
Sturt's destiny is in it's own hands, as is North's, whereas WWT are relying on either one of us to drop games. I know which position I would rather be in.
Bring it on I say.

A lot will be known after tomorrow afternoon. I think Sturt will beat Port and Glenelg and lose to Central. If the Eagles win tomorrow, they then have 2 games against South and West to try and make up the 120ish points difference in % between Sturt and the Eagles.
If all this happens it could make for a very interesting final round with North v Sturt and Eagles v Glenelg. If Eagles lose tomorrow it's likely that final round will be a meaningless preview to the first week of finals.

And as I said, setting up an unlicenced gambling situation on this site could have legal ramifications.
However, what you guys do in private is up to you.

You are so sure they will not sin another game this year, but you need odds to consider making the bet? Guess you aren't quite so sure they won't win another game after all!
