Sturt FC Gaming Venue Approval - Official Media Release

Postby Wedgie » Wed Jan 18, 2006 5:11 pm

Just got this from the Sturt FC:

Sturt Football Club Gaming Venue Approval

We have today received notification from the Office of Liquor and Gambling Commissioner that we have approval to move our gaming venue to the new premises at 166 Unley Road.

Great news for Sturt fans! Let's hope Norwood's isn't too far away now.

Great news for the competition as a whole. I too hope Norwood can follow suit as soon as possible.
Perhaps in the near future we will be able to match it in the financial stakes with the North's, Port's and Central's of this world

Port are not anywhere near being in the same financial league of North and Centrals or the Eagles for that matter (despite their spending on recruits) and their pokies news re the Hotel purchase (so I am told by a reliable source within the IGC) may not be as good as it first appeared. I am told the deal is very similar to Sturt's deal with the Castle Tavern - under lease of the main lease. In other words management of the hotel for a set income amount - unlike the North Adelaide owned full lease/business at the Northern Tavern - chalk and cheese I'm afraid in terms of revenue.

Are they still going to keep existing clubrooms next to oval? Otherwise it will be too far to go at half time for pints.

Certainly there are no immediate plans for changes to the current clubrooms. Things will stay the same for 2006 at least. In the longer term, I guess these are matters to be considered once the new venue is up and running.
