As a Bluebagger, I have noticied the following ex Blues plying their trade inthe SANFL;
David Clarke, Ben Nelson, Trent Sporn, Ian Prendergast, Jesse Smith, Dan Batson, Cory McGrath, Brett Backwell & Heath Culpitt to name the one's I know of.
Is this the highest representation BARRING the Crows / Power ?

Macca, don't think Coad has been listed anywhere. Carlton were interested a few years ago but that is as far as it went

Could add Nathan Steinberner to that list, although currently uncertain as to his future. A Central person I spoke to the other day said he had not retired formally at this stage.

Does it say something about where Port Adelaide are as a club now that they have the most former-AFL listed players on their list? For years they have prided themselves on producing home-grown products. The majority of those players listed did not commence with the Magpies.

Was thinking the same thing about Port.
Centrals and Eagles seem to have a lot of ex AFL but came from those clubs originally. Norwood too !
Guess that says something.....grand finalists for the last xxxxx years.

yes, i believe this is taking away from the 'magpie aura' that they had pre-afl and pre-power. Back in the day, the port players were true port, you know born and bred, bleed for the jumper etc etc..now these guys are just getting their kicks for $$$$. Most of the recruits they have now probably dont give a shit about the names cahill, williams, phillips etc...i guess when you are ripped in 2, you lose a bit of soul.
cant say i feel bad for em either

GO YOU MIGHTY DOUBLE BLUES!!!! now there's a club with passion

Yes, seven of the nine listed for Central played at Central before going to the AFL. The only two who didn't were James and Chris. This is now their eighth season here so they are pretty much Central at heart too.
Cheers.

Magpies seem to have an alliance with the Kangaroos, it doesn't seem to be working.

Crap Jimmy,absolute shite.With the drafting of juniors from SANFL clubs to the AFL as strong as it is today,how could a proud,succesful modern day club be able to move forward with out recruiting players who have not been 'home grown'.You could say Port have been doing it for years,I guess thats why we dont have to wait a 1/4 century between premierships.

yaself.
