snouts louts

o.k. I'd love to know why the snouts louts are louts?
I've read various stories on the centrals end to enders and the north grog squad but why does this bunch of half wits deserve the name 'louts'?
They even use their logo as an avatar so they must be hardcore but funny enough, when I've been to glenelg oval I've only ever seen a bunch of underaged 'nuffy' looking individuals hanging around a beer shed talking in another language.
Being a witness first hand of what the G.C.S. used to be and who used to run it, I find it hard to believe that any of these nerds were once part of it.
Oh well, I've been wrong before but in this instance, I doubt it.
Should be spelt ' snowts lowts'.

Bit harsh there Mungo!
The snouts are a fine looking bunch of fellows who have been around for years. I managed to get a pic of the lads on GF day when they got smashed by the Roosters:

ummm... because Snouts rhymes with Louts???

Hooray for the Snouts - if you want to see how nerdy we really are, sign up to http://www.snoutslouts.org

It is the SANFL club forum website with the most posts and most topics in the last few months - even outrating the Roost on the popularity stakes!

PS We welcome all Glenelg supporters, not just "louts" and "nerds"!

perhaps they could take up fishing in the off season as it's obvious by their record amount of posts on their website that they are bored.
You could call yourselves 'snouts trouts' in the off season.

I heard the Snouts are so exclusive they have an IQ requirement for entry. Nobody over 63.

Ok, bit of a long story, so grab a glass of water Mungo before you start reading.

Basically, being away supporters we "huddled" as you do together 18 months ago when Glenelg kicked 1 goal 4 (10), our lowest score ever, against Norwood.

We all hung around together after the game and decided to "do something about it".

Basically the "doing something about it" was giving support to the club/players/coaches where support was due.

Over the next 5 or 6 weeks the Bays played a lot better (mainly due to Aiden Parker), and after spreading the word via word of mouth and via the footysa web site, the conglomeration grew weekly, till the very special day (and best day EVER) @ the footy "Spoon day".

To save time i'll leave the details of "spoon day" off here, most people know the story.

A whole bunch of us went back to the GFC that night, and basically decided the group to a higher level, as in some sort of name, logo, etc etc etc.

the GFC was aware and fully behind the group, and a few of the players were part of the group when the names were being bandied about.

Footysa regular BringBackChiggy thought of the name "Snouts Louts", which basically stems from we stand on the spot FORMERLY known as Snouts Bar @ the Bay.

And as Ecky says, Louts rhymes with Snouts and we are far from Louts!

Yes, we do have nerds amongst us *, but also family people, kids, blue collar/white collar workers, a few ex players, etc etc etc.

There is no official "club" or membership list, but we do have a code of conduct, which basically says

. Barrack for the Bays
. No dickheads
. Barrack for the Bays
. Have fun @ the footy
.Barrack for the Bays

Many "opposition" supporters stand with us every week, always more then welcome and a bit of banter is always "gerat".

Many of the louts know many/most of the posters on these sites, and we make a point of catching up with as many people as we know every week.

We don't have any official list of names, or he/she is/he isn't etc etc etc, but we have sold about 60 Snouts Tops (not for profit!), have a lot of people registered on the web site, and many more people who stand with/near us @ the footy who do/have neither.

Basically it is a great way to go to the footy and stand with a familiar bunch of idiots with no life but a completely stupid/silly sense of humour. And hopefully the bays win as well...

 Half wits?

A big bunch of people, yes, but among the group we have Chartered Accountants, Financial Planners, many University Graduates and yes, a dead set Rocket Scientist so on average, no we are not half wits.

 underaged 'nuffy' looking individuals

Without doing any research the average age would be about 30 , yes we have kids, but many are far older. All are welcome and the more the merrier.

 talking in another language.

Guilty as charged!

"hungry hungry hippo"
"Buy a budget"
"But wait there's more"
"asterisk"

We have about 20 more....

 G.C.S. used to be and who used to run it, I find it hard to believe that any of these nerds were once part of it.

Correct, i think only one of the Snouts is a former Cheer Squad member.

It is a big in joke that we are not a cheer squad, as cheer squads are for nerds......

Seriously, we welcome any and everyone to introduce themselves and help share a coldy or three!

Groups like the snouts are great for footy, I must admit given we are their bitches I still look forward to the Bay games simply to renew acquaintances with a couple of these blokes ... Now if we can just get TB to see the light and get on the Paley's, the group will rise to another level!

Are you guys based at the Southern end? The last few years when I have gone to the Bay, I have stood at the Northern end. Some "friendly banter" would be more then welcome as I usually go alom=ne with my ten year old lad.

Yep. at the South West end, on the grassy knoll.

My kids (age 8) stand with us, always welcome, but there is occassional "fruity" language  but you hear that anywhere at any oval anyway.

I remember my first introduction to "fruity" language at the footy.

Dad used to take me down to Glenelg Oval for the last quarter of the game in the early 80's. One time, when I was about 7 and we were playing North, I came home and told Mum quite seriously: "North Adelaide supporters must be very Christian because they were talking about Jesus Christ at the football"! :)
