3 absolute superb 'speckies' today at noarlunga all in the 3rd quarter mathew thomas, jamie vlatko & then alipate carlile took what would be the mark of the year i hope it is on video/dvd & sent into 'almost footy legends' now we dont see these marks in the afl because coaches have teams trying not to lose rather than trying to win & it amazes me that the afl coaches have no confidence in their own forwards taking contested marks & these blokes are on $200,000.00+ a year :? :? :? :? the coaches are on more :? :? :? :? there is a message to the afl ATTACK & WIN

Almost Footy Legends don't accept videos at League level, and IMO, that's how it should be. We don't want to see the SANFL classed as 'Amateur' footy.

When did they stop? Nick Gill won a round a couple of years ago playing for North.

Probably after that, but that's what I've heard.

I thought that two marks by the 2 'legs players earlier in the quarter were great, but Bobby's was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately it seems no-one got a pic.

If by chance someone got a pic can we see it? It is definately a good chance for mark of the year/decade/century/ever in any grade anywhere.

20 years from now when I hear some loudmouth going on about the great things they have seen on the footy field, I'll be able to shut them up by saying "I saw Bobby Carlile's mark"

According to those clowns on 5RPH at the end of the game they were describing the mark via viewing a video replay supplied to them so it has been captured on film.

Great, now if only we can get it released. That mark's gotta be shared. The SNAFL should get all three of those marks into a new TV commercial and out tomorrow. That'd definately get the crowd numbers up and in big way.

All three marks were sen-bloody sensational and that quarter had it all when the umpire broke his leg running the ball back to the centre as well and was stretchered off. Unusual to see 3 marks like these three in one quarter AND an injury to an umpire like that. Thomas' mark was over two players, Vlatko and Carlisle where both over bigger packs from memory.

Pine Lodge would have taped the game. Also, a couple of Norwood guys take pics at most games and may have got a snap - watch the Norwood forum for info.

Don't forget Daniel Motlop and Tim Inkster from last year! ;)

And how exactly did the boundary umpire break his leg?

First I saw of it was him lying on the ground so I'm not sure.

Haven't forgotten them by a long shot, but that third quarter was something special (hate to use that word, but it fits).
It was almost as though we were being set up for Bobby's mark. First Thomas took an old fashioned specky to stir up the crowd then Vlatko rose above a pack to take a mark Jesabloddywhatsisname woulda needed a crane for, just to keep everyone paying attention. Then Bobby took his grab and there was not a bum on a seat anywhere at the oval except people in cars and several of them bumped their heads.

Thomas’s mark was one of the best I have ever seen.

And did Twomey break his ankle late in the last quarter? His teammates were yelling at him to get up.

The umpire just appeared to have his leg go from under him - no one was anywhere near him and he just fell to the ground. The field umpire was close - about to receive the ball on relay - and he just straightened the guy's ankle vertical and held it in place. They waved the Nwd trainers on and then the stretcher was called. An ump trainer told me after the game he had broken his leg pretty badly.

Eighteen Norwood players fell into those tunnels as well.

Gotta agree with SO64 ... When Tommo took his hanger I thought "there's the mark of the year right there", then Vlatko took his speccy and I thought "Hmm thats competitive but Tommy still has him" and THEN Carlisle takes one of the best grabs I've ever seen and I thought "Game Over!"

Pretty spunout, all at the same end only about 10 minutes apart ... I'll try and grab the DVD from Pine Lodge because they were some serious good grabs (Carlisle's bordering on the ridiculous)!
